Hello

I have been banded for two years now.  I have lost 140 lbs so far and have another 50-60lbs to go.  I was at 354lbs.

When I first got my band it was a struggle for me.  The first year I didn't have enough restriction and I cheated a lot.  I mean lets face it if I could control my eating I wouldn't have gotten to 354.  So needless to say I lost wieght very slowly.  I was afriad I was going to be a Band failure.  I started to feel sorry for myself and blamed my band.  I kept thinking about how long I would have to wait before asking for revision.

Then thing happened.  I started to workout.  When I actually got to the point where my band helped me and I got off my ass and worked out...surprise I lost weight.  I workout 6 days a week, 90 minutes a day.  I lost 16 lbs the first month I was working out.  I am still losing weight at a good rate.  I am thankful that after two years I am able to lose weight still.

You have to remember it's harder to lose weight with this surgery than the other surgeries.  You will have to do the work.  If you rely on your band to do the work then you won't lose weight.

Hi there and welcome!

I've had my band for 16 months.  Out of the 4 most commonly done weight loss surgeries, this one sounded like the best fit for me to meet my goals.  I'm really glad I had it done!

Welcome

The band has done exactly what I wanted it to do.  Help me to diet.  I could always lose 20 , 30, 40 lbs but put it all back on plus some.  I have always been a huge volume eater and the band has stopped that thank fully.

I have not regretted this decision one minute.

Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.

I agree,  I went on many diets and I always gaind the weight back plus some.  I keep saying I know how to diet but don't know how to keep it off.  The band will help with that.  I go on this site often and I read what everyone has to say and it makes me fell that what I did was definatly the right choice.  I always tell my husband about the banders that reached their goals and have maintaind.   YOU GUYS ARE A REAL INSPERATION!!!!!!!    I don't post much, i'm definatly more of a reader.

Only you can make the chooice to change you life, noone else.
being over weight has many side effect to.

Thanks for all the input, i really think this is the answer for me, i am like all of you i can't seem to control my portions.  I have had success with weigh****chers but it's hard to weight and measure everything.  I do exercise already and am not afraid of working to loss the weight, i think that is how it should be done.  My husband love me to pieces, but he doesn't think surgery is the answer it don't think he really understands my issue, he as always be skinny expect for recently he as gained some weight.  I told i am so tired of fighting to loss the weight just for it to creep back up again.
