Oh nuts! Where are my nutrition experts?

I know that I might already need a small fill and just started back to the gym about 3 weeks ago....but I have been constantly hungry.  So I started snacking which I have never really done before...and I am gaining instead of losing. I was trying to think of what I have been eating different lately and realized that I have been grubbin on some peanuts...A LOT!  I throw them in a bowl and crack those babies open almost daily.
They are dry roasted AND salted peanuts which I never noticed before because my hubby throws them in a container rather than keeping them in the bag.

I have tried to look at some websites and feel like I am getting mixed answers.  Please tell me that if I stop eating them, I will start losing again!  I have been bouncing around the same 5lbs since late November (thank you hip injury, steroids, now peanuts??).  I REFUSE to weigh more than 200 for my 2yr bandiversary.  Thanks in advance for any insight!

OK tough love here- IF IT IS NOT WORKING THAN YOU NEED TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE LOL

You have to be honest with your self and log calories in calories out.  I have always used the www.dailyplate.com and it works for me.  I am sure there are others out there.

I logged my food everyday for the 1st year.  At my year mark I stopped because I thought I knew it all.  WRONG.  Once I started back logging food and exercise the weight is coming off again.

Give it a try but be honest with the food and the liquid.  It is amazing how you can say no to that extra few nuts ( a serving of almonds is 11 almonds)  If you are logging and you eat 20 almonds , you need to log that you ate 20 almonds.

It is a lot easier to not eat 100 calories that to work those calories off.

Remember, if you want to be a 155 pound person, you have to EAT like one.

Ashley:

I'm bad with all nut types too! I love them, they do not love me back. Or maybe they do, just too much! Get rid of them. Peanuts are not the best choice in the nut family. They are bottom of the barrel. If you are craving nuts, always  go with almonds.

As for being hungry after exercise. Yes, you do need to have a protein rich snack after exercise or you will start and make bad choices. That is straight from my NUT. Especially is you did a heavy workout. If you don't fuel prior to exercise you will be ravenous after!

Good Luck!

I wouldn't cut nuts out of your diet altoghether.  Just be concious on how many you eat.  They're full of lots of good things, including lots of protein, vitamins and healthy fats that help lower your cholesterol.
Pistachios are just as good or even better choice than Almonds, in my opinion, they're tastier!

Nuts have a lot of health benefits.  Dr. Oz recommends walnuts, hazelnuts, and almonds.  He also recommends they be eaten raw and unsalted because the roasting process changes the essential fatty acids.  I like almonds, and keep them in the freezer for more crunch.  But, they *do* have a lot of calories.  I'd recommend measuring, and stick with what's in your calorie budget (for me, no more than 1/4 c.)  Or, buy them in the shell and use a nut cracker.  That will slow down the process quite a bit!
