One of the girls I know just got done having a baby she got preg about 8 months out having the band :o)

What her doc did was take all the fluid out of her band till she had the baby.

She just followed the band rules even though she had no fluid and she actually still lost weight during her preg. but still ate really good for the baby :o)  At the end she only gained about 15 pounds through the whole thing .

I would take it all out of it was me. The last thing you want is to be sick and throwing up with the band and then you have to end up taking it out because of that .

Also ask your doc if you can have some anti sickness pills. They gave them to my gf a very mild mild dose just enough to take the sickness away due to the band and fear of it slipping

Thank you for the advice, great to hear to good stories about band and babies

I will make an appointment to get the fluid taken out.  I am scared that I will gain some back.

I just had my baby 9 months ago, at 11 weeks pregnant I was also vomiting about once a day and was finding it hard to eat what I could keep down, so I went in.  My dr only took out about 2.5cc's out of the 6.5 I had in.  I recently had 2 put back in and am back in business.  I wouldn't take the full amount out, because remember how long it took to get to that point? Well for me anyway, it took like 6 months of gradual fills.  This is just my advice! Just take out a little and see how you do! Good Luck with your pregnancy!!!

Hi, and congratulations!

My baby just turned 1 last month.  I got pregnant just over a year after getting my band.  My surgeon let me wait until the 2nd trimester before he took some fluid out of my band.  He didn't emty it completely, but I really didn't have any restriction during the rest of the pregnancy after he took some out.  Had I been throwing up alot, he would have taken it out sooner.

I gained 27 pounds during the pregnancy, but my doc let me start getting fills 6 weeks after she was born.  He said that it was up to me, and he took the fills really slowly, since I was breast feeding.

Let me know if you have any questions.  I hope your vomitting goes away soon!!!!

I haven't been pregnant so no advice on that front -- but a hearty congratulations to you!   Personally, if I did find out I was pregnant, I would have all the fluid taken out because you know, there is a BABY growing in there. My port is right next to my belly button and I would give me the heebie jeebies to have a needle stabbing around in there once the baby started to get big enough to get close to the port area.  Note, this isn't a medical opinion, so I'm just going with my gut feelings here.

Best of luck to you!
