Do You Eat On A Schedule Or Only When Hungry

I've always prefered to skip breakfast because I tend to eat better that way.

But then "they' say breakfast is so important.

Thanks in advance.

Adding Breakfast to my daily routine is probably one of the most significant changes I made post surgery and I believe it contributed significantly to my WL success.  Pre surgery I never used to eat breakfast, unless you call a giant latte and a doughnut or pastry breakfast!    As per my Nuts instructions I started eating a "real" breakfast made up of protein, dairy and sometimes a complex carb.  I try to get at least 20 g of protien in for breakfast to jump start my metabolism and stave off hunger until lunch time.

I start with a NF latte every morning on my commute and then I pack and bring both my breakfast and lunch with me to work.  While like many, my band is tighter int he a.m. , I find that after my coffee I'm fine and able to eat real food.  I've never been one for protein shakes unless there's a reason to get my protein in a liquid form, (like right after a fill or a stuck experience).

I eat on a schedule. Eventhough they say only eat when you're hungry, I have found that if I wait too long, I'll pass that point of no return and I'll make poor food choices if I'm TOO hungry or caught without a plan for what I'm going to eat.  I eat 3 meals a day with 1-2 snacks, (usually at 4:00 and 8:00), IF I NEED THEM.  I usually eat my meals 4 hours a part and am usually hungry with that schedule.

There are plenty of WL specialists that prescribe eating 5-6 smaller meals per day to keep the metabolism working at a steady level without large dips, but I have a harder time getting in 5-6 meals when I'm working than I do with 3, so I stick to what's worked for me.

Best~

Mondays - Fridays it's pretty scheduled because of work.  But on the weekends I eat whenever.

I do always eat breakfast.  Every article I read and all doctors I talked to say not eating breakfast slows your metabolism.  I was told even if it's just a snack of a cheese stick....eat something

Usually I follow the same time line.

I eat breakfast around 9 or so

Lunch around 2pm

dinner around 7 pm or so

snack around 10 if I am hungry

Eating when I felt like it -- or when I thought I was hungry got me to 284 pounds.

I eat on a schedule 90% of the time or more.

I eat something in the morning ---- since I work at home, i can grab a yogurt or banana or something any time I want it.

then, I eat lunch around the same time every day, then an afternoon snack before I exercise, dinner and an evening snack.

I tell myself that I am like the monkeys in the zoo -- if it is not feeding time, I don't eat.
Food is never more than 2 or 3 hours away --- and no one ever starved between breakfast and dinner.

Since I am within 20 feet of the pantry and fridge all day long, I have to have strategies for staying out of them both.

Lost 131 pounds ---- it is working!

I eat pretty much on schedule (although it's not all that precise).  I find that if I wait until I'm really hungry then I'm more likely to eat something I shouldn't, or I don't take the time to prepare something tasty and healthy.  I always eat breakfast, even though I'm not always hungry in the morning, because I've read several times that your metabolism gets kick-started by eating within an hour of waking.

Thanks for the replys.

I think I'll eat a little something in the morning regardless if I'm hungry or not.

But with this fill I just had, I'm really not interested until around 11:30ish these days.  So that was basically the question, should I eat even though I'm content and not hungry.

Thanks again.

I often eat when I'm not hungry but I know it's time to eat.  I always think about the saying "eat to live...not live to eat" and that's what I do.  I eat breakfast in the morning because it's time...and so on with the rest of the meals.  I don't wait till I'm hungry because then I might over eat.  Not to mention it's also bad for your metabolism.

I read from trainers and hear from bariatric nurses that we should eat something within 2 hours of waking and preferably within 1.. this is to help our metabolism get started working.

I usually get up about 5:30am, have my coffee and vitamins.  Around 7:30 to 8 I'll have something to eat/drink for breakfast.  What I consume depends on my schedule for the day.  Most days I'm working out so I don't have time for a leisurely breakfast so I'll drink a RTD shake.   If I'm not working out, I'll have 30 minutes to eat oatmeal or scrambled eggs.

Today I was a little extra hungry so I had a cheese stick with my vitamins and then an hour or so later had my protein drink.

Get home from gym, have a different protein drink.. 2 hours after that have lunch. (1 or 2pm)

Supper is somewhere from 5 to 7pm.

Hope this answers your question ..sorta.

If you're not hungry in the mornings, you might possibly be eating too much at night or too late at night.  Not saying you are, just something to consider.

I used to eat breakfast, before lap band... A bagel, with cheese, or egg and cheese...

After lapband, If I am off, I might have an egg.. later morning
For a long time I was not hungry in th am, so I wouldnot eat til lunch...My nut even said, if I am not hungry dont eat...
Then I realized that me band was about .3cc too tight.  Once I had that removed, I am hungry in the am ..so I will have a bit of oatmeal, or an egg....

I try to eat before 10... we tend to have lunch at 12 at work... If i eat breakfast late, I will not have lunch til later..
Having it that way, I usually do not have any snack til later the afternoon..
