Thanks guys you've really calmed me down and put things into perspective for me. I really appreciate it.

1. Breath in and out slowly so you can catch your breath.

2. One day at a time.

3. It's OK and to be scared, keep talking about what you feel and IF YOU ARE READY TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE you will be ready for surgery.

4. You will be able to enjoy a meal out and really enjoy it because you will eat slow enough to taste it and also enjoy the company you are in instead of trying to scarf down that meal and still try to find room for dessert.

5. Make a list of what you want to see happen in your life that is important to you thathaving less weight may help.  Two days before my surgery I did that and at the top of my list was coming off of my medications for high BP and cholesterol (on four meds at the time, now on half dose of two of them and per my doctor can come off of BP meds next month and just have a baby aspirin daily after that) and being able to fly without a seat belt extender which I have accomplished. The vanity goal is that I can now paint my own toes and I'm pretty good at it due to a way smaller tummy.

When things happen that involve change we sometimes are very fearful and somewhat resistant to it but if it is important we do all that we can to make it happen.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey There,

I am also having my surgery on Tuesday...loooong time coming! I am scared too, but mostly I am excited! I can't wait to walk with no knee pain, or back pain! Trust me, it will be alot easier because you are young! I am 36, although I am not really old...I feel VERY OLD! I have been over weight most of my adult life and it robs you of life. I can't tell you what it feels like to live life on the sidelines! I am excited for you, you have the chance to live a normal life!

Hears to being healthy!

I understand how nervous you must be.  I can't wait to be in your position.  I don't know if I will be able to have the lap band procedure as I have developed barretts esophogitis.  I hope this has cleared up so I can have my surgery in April or May of this year.  At 42 years old I am so ready to get off this roller coaster ride of yo-yo dieting.  I want to be off my blood pressure meds and able to enjoy life without all of this depression over my weight.  Goood luck to you.
