So, I'm cruising right along exercising like it's my job. Losing weight slowly but surely.......Then I introduce a empty carb here and an empty carb there now my body craves those ups to compensate for the crashes.  My energy level plummeted, I crave more carbs, and have wicked mood swings and exercise , what exercise?  I've only gained 7 lbs but I'm gonna have to start from the beginning to get my running up to what it was before the holidays.  But like they say in all the 12 step programs "One Day at a Time" so, just for today I will be carb free. Tomorrow can wait for tomorrow,

You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, and rest when you know that it was 100% effort that you gave --win or lose.

I hear you...carbs have always been and will continue to be my down fall. I'm good at staying away from the big ones: Bread, pasta, rice & potatoes. But it's the crackers and chips that kills me. Good luck! -Nikki

LOVE that - "exercising like it's my job"! Yup, it pretty much has to be your job to win this war! You've got that nailed.

As for the carbs - double yup. If you are at all sensitive to carbs, you will never be able to eat "just one". Carb addicts know this, live this every day. We are ALWAYS in recovery. And EXACTLY like a recovering alcoholic or drug addict, to partake in any measure of our addictive substance is the beginning of a downward spiral.

It took me 57 years to own that knowledge, and I live every day knowing that I am one donut away from relapse. It is a self-destructive tendancy rooted in both psychological and physiological causes, and it takes a lot of soul-searching to stay on top of it. But you DO have what it takes, and one carb-free day can lead to the next, and to the rest of your life. Know it, OWN it, and you WILL succeed!!!
