What size bites?

I've heard different things, but I'm just wondering how big of bites y'all take. For example, I just got a new fill, and tonight for dinner I kept getting stuck eating my super moist thicken thigh and PB'd . The light bulb went off in my head and I thought hmmm, maybe I need to be eating smaller bites now. After I cut the chicken into pea size bites and chewed real well, it went down and stayed down. Do you think this is how small I need to be cutting up my dense proteins now? It's just so strange to eat such a small bite. Let me know your thoughts.

We were told in nutrition class to cut our food into pieces the size of an eraser.  then to chew it 35 times.  I have found that this is truly a good solution to getting stuck and vomiting.  also, you need to remember to eat slow.  I have not had much luck with meat.  I have switched to a lot of vegetarian meats.
I have started a new gtoup called All_About_Me_in_NJ.  Please check it out.  I just started it the other day so be patient.  I am just getting started.  I am trying to do it right.  Anyway, stop by, join and leave a comment.  Thanks.  Good luck.  ME

When it comes to chicken, smaller is better.  I can't eat it at all...  When I am really hungry I tend to eat bigger bites and eat them too fast.  Also after you PB, don't eat more...switch to liquids then soft foods in the morning.  If you eat more you might just irritate the area around the band even more and end up stuck again.  Take care :)

The more restricted I am the less dense protein I can eat, even when it's cut into tiny tiny bites.  The size of a pencil eraser head is what I was told.  Chicken has been a bad one for me, even dark meat, so be careful!

Your meal should take 20 mins but not longer than 30 mins to eat.

I agree with the others on eraser sized bites and chewing it 20-30 times. Also with a PB, you need to quit eating and go to liquids.  You irritate your stoma and there could be swelling and it only makes it worse if you keep eating.  I've never PB'd, just had 4 stucks in 19 months.  Eat slower and smaller bites. Take 20-30 minutes for your meal.  I'm surprised your surgeon or NUT didn't mention the size of bites to take.

Pea sized is a good size...other references; M&Ms, corn kernel, quarter inch...My nutritionist had me doing this for the 5 months before sugery, just so I would not have to learn it post-op, that helped a lot.
