Grateful for that PB last night
I have had my band since Dec. 16th. I haven't had any problems , in fact its hard to even know I have it now. I ate everything I wanted up until my first fill a few weeks ago. After that fill I noticed a few stuck episodes if I didn't chew well, but nothing major it eventually went down. I haven't lost a lot of weight and in fact have been kinda frustrated that I still eat quite a bit. ( but its still early I understand that now).
well last night I went out to eat to a grill type place. I ordered a cheeseburger, without the roll ( with provolone) and plain green beans. ( in place of the fries it came with yeahhh me) . I cut the burger and took a small bite. It didn't feel quite right. I waited a minute for it to pass and took another and another. Then it hit. The saliva started, the pain started and I started to sweat. The worst episode ever for me. I finally ran to the bathroom after 5 minutes and prayed it would leave me. Well it did!!! and trust me the last time I ever yacked was probably when Carter was president. It wasn't pleasant.
But you know what, it made me realize for the first time the power of this band. I am now accountable for what I eat and how I eat it. I learned that my band is there to help me control the types of things I eat and it will let me know when something isn't right and teach me to slow down.. Today, I am afraid to eat a thing. Maybe I will loose some now..haha.
Just had to share a newbie's thought on PB's.
Yeah for "the power of the band"!

ETA (Edited to add!): Your stoma sometimes can get a little irritated when you PB, so doctors often recommend going on liquids for the rest of the day.

Sorry you had to go thru that but it IS a learning experience. I haven't had a problem yet. I had my first fill last week. I see or feel no difference. I'm not hungry for the most part and I guess that's what it is all about. Just remember, you should be measuring your food if you are not. Having the band does not mean that we should feel full or about how much we can eat. It's about being satisfied with our measured foods and not being hungry for 4 hrs or so with the meals we eat. When I get a bit careless with my measuring I am reminded that I CAN eat more, I just shouldn't. Not always easy tho. When the food tastes good we want to eat more of it.
Hang in there. We'll both get there. It takes time.
