Band Adjustment and Liquids - what's the point?

I had a band adjustment on Monday to decrease the amount in my port. I'm doing the standard liquids till this evening.

A quick question: why does the doctor recommend doing liquids for two days after the adjustment even if it was to decrease the band fill?

Since I was too tight, does it even matter me doing liquids after the unfill?

I would guess that he thought after being too tight that your sstomach might be irritated, thus the liquids,

Any adjustment to the band fluid level can cause swelling to the tissue around the band.  The liquid diest is a percaution in case you experience swelling.  It can also take up to 2 days for the tissue to react fully so my PA recommends 3 days of liquids with a fill.  One day for an unfill seems reasonable.

Also, I think you meant to say "to decrease the amount in your band", not your port.  There is no fluid in your port.

I hope the slight unfill gives you some relief.

Mine recommends 2 days of liquids after a FILL, but no restrictions after an UNfill.

I just had an unfill too and I had to wait 48 hours to resume eating. It is torture but I used it as a chance to start fresh again.
