If you are under a week post-op, is it possible that you are feeling discomfort as you move in the night?  Not enough to make you feel pain but enough to disturb your sleep.

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hello

I'm not sure how much you weight you have lost but another reason for sleep disruption could be hormones.  Hormones are stored in our fat.  As we lose weight excess hormones are released into your system, causing all kinds of problems for some people.  Since our sleep cycles are controlled by our hormones I was wondering if that could be the problem.  I would suggest getting something called Melatonin from your vitamin section.  Melatonin is a naturally occurring substance in your body that helps with sleep.  Melatonin should offer you some help.  It's also non-habit forming.

I never really slept good again till about 4 weeks out from surgery .  Im a tummy sleeper anyways and I was always scared I would roll over in the night and I would have this drastic pain hit me lol.

It never did but it was a fear of mine.  Till I could move around on the bed without having a little bit of pain or soreness I slept awful.  I would end up taking long naps in the afternoon because I wasnt getting a good nights sleep.

Now that Im three months post op just losing almost 40 pounds I can tell a huge difference in my sleeping Im getting a good nights sleep and have cut out my naps .

I see a lot of people posting about insomnia post op regardless of surgery type.  The day I got my band insomnia kicked in full force.  I've been sleeved 2.5 years and it's still the same.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

My sleep pattern totally went haywire! I could only sleep a few hours and then I'd be up. But, within a few weeks I was back to sawing logs... It will get better...

Sleep well,

I had erratic sleep patterns for the first few weeks too.  Plus I had weird dreams all the time.  I was told that anesthesia was to blame.  After a few weeks, things pretty much went back to normal.

Hi there, sorry to hear that you're losing sleep.  I honestly can't remember if I had that problem after surgery (4+ years ago), but I sure am having trouble now.  That's because menopause is rearing her ugly head!  For me, the worse thing is to lie there and think about the fact that I'm not sleeping.  I either read a book or turn on the TV for a bit, and usually I can fall back asleep.  Hope this passes soon for you.  Oh, and congrats on your surgery!
