I don't care for protein shakes and they don't satisfy my hunger.
I get about 60 - 70 grams a day --
15 at breakfast with Greek Yogurt
20 - 25 at lunch (tuna, crackers, veg)
20 - 30 at dinner with lean/solid protein
Usually a piece of low-fat string cheese (7 grams of protein for 50 calories)
You can also get about 1 gram per ounce of skim milk if you want to drink some of your calories/protein.

Hi there,
My meals are similar to KathKeb's, but I am just not an eater in the morning. My band is slow to wake up
I usually do have a protein shake in the morning. I also through in some berries, a 1/2 banana, and sometimes a teaspoon of lowfat peanut butter when I'm doing a chocolate protein shake cuz it's so flippin yummy!
Lunch is something protein-y.... chicken, tuna salad, sometimes chicken salad. I also like to buy deli sliced turkey, chicken or occasionally deli slice roast beef... lay a piece of some white low-fat cheese on top of a slice or two of the meat, add some dijan mustard or horseradish sauce, roll it up and eat it yum!!!!!! Or I'll put it in a big piece of butter lettuce to sub for bread and eat it that way as well. A friend of mine has a cafe' in a town near ours. She was making me breadless sandwiches that some others saw. Now it's a part of her menu. I think the one she made me was turkey with some LF cream cheese spread on it, some dijon mustard, craisons, rolled up & drizzled just a little bit of homemade pesto sauce (and I mean only a little bit of the pesto - luckily, a little pesto goes a long way). It was soooo good! And I had to save some of it for later.
For dinner, I've started going through cookbooks for other ideas. I'll make the carb side dish for DH (or he'll make it for me - he does most the cooking when he's not traveling for work), but I'm learning to experiment more with veggies to go with my protein.
Hope this helps. Lisa O and Jean have good ideas in their blogs as well.

I have never found it a problem. Yesterday... (only giving main protein sources, will have been a little bit more in some of the veg I ate and I also had milk in tea)
enormous skinny latte (12)
mid morning - large yoghourt (10)
lunch - tuna with granary bread (20)
snack - almonds (10)
dinner - chicken (20)
I just eat a normal diet! So most meals contain protein. Fish, meat, eggs, milk, nuts. All the same things i ate pre-band but smaller quantities and cooked with less fat etc..
Kate
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I've been using the Health Tracker on this system and it works great for me. I usually enter full days for about twice a week in a row so I can make sure I get sufficient protein and nutrients.
As Kate said, main meals contain protein and to supplement, I've started adding my protein powder to my plain nonfat yoguart & jam (that also contains my crushed up multi-vitamins) as thick rich item - I call it my pudding.. :) The protein powder I use is vanilla flavored and has 27 grams of protein and only 130 calories, the yoguart - 1/2 cup - 10 grams and 120 calories, the berry jam 30 calories - so for 280 calories, I have something that takes me about an hour to eat, keeps me full, tastes good, and has 37 grams of protein - half of what I need for the day - in the first meal.
If I don't think I ate enough protein, I will have a shake or some cooked egg whites for my evening snack, but not usually.
Good luck!
Kim
