I had my surgery last Wednesday and I've been on the clear fluid diet now for 6 days and I've lost around 6 lbs.  I'm glad of that, but am also worried that I may become dehydrated because I have been kind of nauseous and just really don't have any desire to drink anything,  Everything I try to drink taste yucky,  Is that normal???  Any advice would be much appreciated.,,

Congrats on the six pounds.

Did your doc not give you any anti nauseous pills ? My doc was really aggresive for that . I had a patch behind my ear, shots of it in my IV another shot of it before I left the hospital plus pills at home.

Maybe you should call your doc and ask about it .  You really need to get your liquids or you will end up back in the hospital due to deydration .

By the end of my first week I was back to drinking a good 3 to 6 oz of water or drinks at a time .

Water with a slice of lime, lemon or orange.  You can try the Crystal light drinks but I found I had to water it down because it was too sweet right after surgery.  Crushed ice, sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles.  Stay as hydrated as you can.

Dramamine (not sure of the spelling!) for motion sickness is great for nausea.  That is what my family doc told me to take when I felt that way.  It can make you drowsy but the great thing about it is you can buy it over the counter and not need a prescription!  Hope you feel better!
