Hi Nana,

Wow 6 years too! I'm starting to see it is possible for people to have this band and succeed. Congrats to ya. If you don;t mind me asking what was your staring weight and what was your goal weight? Did you reach your goal and have you maintained it.

Hi thepose, my starting weight was 326, size 26, I got down as low as 185 at one point my goal was 180, I am 5'8 inches tall so 170 to 180 looks VERY THIN on me,  my lowest size was size 8 dress and size 10 pants, so I settled down to a size 10/12 for about 4 years, I gained a few pounds back due to no restriction for a whole year and then I changed surgeons and got great restriction and has since lost what I regained and VERY happy that my band is still working at 6 years post op.

Good luck to you.

So I will probable get flamed for saying this.

MAke sure you take your time and do your research.

I so wanted the band to work for me.  I was strict with the foods that I ate, the quantity that I ate.  i was so determined that nothing was going to happen with my band.  Boy was I wrong.

I had heartburn even when I had no fill in my band.  I never got to good restriction even after having the band for a year and 10 months.  I had a slooow, slooow heart rate that went away when I had the band removed.   I had a lot of pain with the band.  I only lost 54 pounds with the band and then stopped losing.

Just make sure you understand the complications of all of the surgeries.  I can't say that one is better than the other but just do your research

Tamara

Hi Tamaral,

I'm sorry for the bad experience with the band. Only losing 54 pounds, that's a lot to me. I'll take it if  you don't want it (smile). Thanks again for replying and I will research my options. thepose

its not much when I needed to lose 140 pounds. After losing 54 pounds I was still obese and still unhealthy

Hi, I have had my band 9 years. I got rid of the diabetes and high blood pressure. I did have a slip. I have no regrets. Mona

It's worked well for me. I had mine for over three years. No issues at all. There is a learning curve, but it's all do-able ( based on personal experience). Best wishes!!!

I have been banded 3 years and a few months, I have lost 120lbs and have not always been the best eater or exceriser but have been truly successful. I could have lost a lot faster had a been a better bander but I have been very happy with the slow weight loss and would do it again if I had too. I have reached my Doctors goal weight and I still have a few pounds I would like to takeoff. I was very scared when I was getting ready to make the decision and I even had a surgery date and canceled it and waited 6 mths thinking I could do this alone, I then rescheduled and went thru with it and it has been the best thing I have ever done. I have no regrets I was scared of the unknown but I was also not happy with who I was so I looked at it as I had little to lose (lol) by trying something that could help me be successful. I have had no problems with my band and have no regrets. Good Luck with your decision,
