Has anyone ever changed their mind after Consult.....

Good luck, my dear. I would ask about the sleeve so you know if that is available to you, WLS does not consist of only RNY or band. In the end it is your decision and yours only. Only you know what you can live with. If you can live with the risks/faults of the band then do not let anyone dissuade you. I consider mine a life saving proceedure. As I said before, I knew all the negatives and when I finally decided I could deal with them I went for it. If I loose it at some point I will be devastated but still be glad for having had it. If that time should come I will deal with it at that time. Those occurances aren't as frequent as some would have us believe, but they do occur. I am willing to do what I am capable of to avoid complications but beyond that I am not going to worry. For the first few months I was terrified of something happening but now I have learned to just relax and enjoy my new life.
You do what is right for you. Once I settled on my choice I worried a lot but it was the right one for me. Good luck, Sue

I changed my mind a million times between my consult and my surgery date. Especially right before surgery. If you are unsure of what surgery you want then you should go for the consult for the lap band. Then you will have information on both of the proceedures so you will be able to make your decision on which surgery is best for you.
I started thinking I was going to get the bypass but then changed my mind for the lapband after I did more research. The surgeons clinic did not have any problems with this.
On the flip side, my sister in laws BFF went in for her preop for her lapband and came out scheduled for the gastric bypass two weeks later.
Do your research, go with your gut (no pun intended!) on what you want to do.
