The day is getting closer and I am really getting nervous, but not nearly as bad as my husband.
It seems like this has been a long process but I feel it will be worth it. I went thru a time with the surgion about sleeve or band but in the end we both felt band would be the best if not the fastest way for me. I have read and read but would someone please tell be what would be my biggest challenge right after surgery. It seems it will be getting the liquids in and the vitamins. I am hoping to go back to work on Monday 28. I work for a Drs office and can take it a little easy.
So what are some thoughts from everyone?

I'm having surgery the same day as  you.  I am also getting a little nervous as well.  I think for me getting in the fluid, protein and vitamins will be an issue.  If we are suppose to be restng (for me that will be sleeping since pain pills generally knock me out) when am I suppose to get all the fluids in? We'll figure it out.  Keep in touch and let us all know how you are doing.

Had my surgery last Thursday and my hubby was more nervous than I was.   The hardest part of the surgery was after waking up having to drink the barium solution for x-ray.  Take your time going at things and let hunny help you thats what they are there for (so i was told by mine when I tried to get out of chair on my own).  Sip and sip fluids all day never put the bottle down lol even when you want to throw it.....the vitamins the chewables are not so bad just drink water after to help with the dryness

All the best to both of you. I remember the advice I got from the vets post-op was " walk walk walk and sip sip sip". The more you move and drink the better you will do managing gas ( GI and in your abdomen) as well as getting yourself  back on track quickly. I always remind folks to be smart about staying on top of pain by using your pain meds as prescribed in the first 2-3 days. The problem with pain happens if you try to play catch up. Always best to stay ahead of it so that you do not increase your physical stress while your body responds to the shock of the surgery and anesthesia. Congratulations as you both prepare to change your lives.
