surgery coming up this wednesday
Grats on it being SO close! I was banded just last month, so the excitement is still there
As for shopping advice, I'm sure there are vets here who can advise, but for myself, I did quite well on protein drinks, greek yogurt, and crystal light added to my daily water requirement. It took me a couple of weeks before I could fit any more than that in, so my goals were just to get in my fluid, protein, and supplements.
Do yourself a favor and find protein and supplements you like before surgery! And if I may add a personal experience, don't do liquid or powder calcium (they never really absorb, so you feel like you're drinking sand, no matter how much you stir). Try the Bariatric Advantage chewables, they're by far the best I've tried.

I could not agree more. After surgery it was an effort to get all my liquids in. Make sure you get a good protein drink. it has to be Whey Isolate. I started trying them months before surgery. The Bariatric Advantage Lemon Pound Cake calcium chews are wonderful. But they do need to be ordered by mail. Costco has their own brand of chovolate calcium chews and they are really goodl They are sugar free. Also, on Bariatric Advantage you can get chewable lemon Vitaband vitamins whichare good. Make sure you take your vitamins and calcium 2 hours apart from each other. I have a routine so it makes it ieasy. i take my vitamin first thing in the morning, 2 hours later i take the calcium, etc.
i was a little sore after surgery, but not in a lot of pain. For the first couple of days the worst of it was standing and sitting. Once I got past that, I was fine. the most important thng to remember is to walk, walk, walk and then walk some more unless your doctor says not to. that will help you feel better quicker and will releive the gas, which there will be plenty of after surgery.
Hang in there, it will be over before you know it. I had to wait 6 months from the time I started the process because of insurance. I never thought it was going to happen and here I am 9 months later. I have lost 84 pounds and feel wonderful. I have more to lose but I have never felt better in my life.

YAY!! Surgery on the same day. We'll be surgery sisters. LOL My post op diet consists of protein drinks, broths, cream of chicken, mushroom, etc (blended so not chunks), sf jello and sf popsicles. I'm hoping that all I will need is my protein drinks and water.
I'm starting to get really excited but nervous as well. I've wanted this for so long and I can't believe my time has finally come
You'll do great with your surgery. We'll have to keep each other up to date on our recovery and progress..
