Tofu Noodles
I guess some people love them-I wish I did but when you first open the package they stink (think old fish). You are supposed to rinse them and pat them dry to get the smell out, but I just can't get past the smell. I have actually eaten them a few times and would describe them as gelatinous. Sauce does not stick well. I think they are worth a try-I got mine at Whole Foods-and some people seem to love them. I can eat a little real pasta-with lots of sauce with no problem-so I have better options. I have been reading the Hungry Girl blog for years and she has many great ideas. She also frequently reviews new foods on the market and is good at weeding out the bad from the good.
Hello..Thanks for the review of the noodles. I went to Ralph's Supermarket today and bought some. My friend at work has tried them and also mentioned the weird texture.
I am going to make a meat sauce and give them I go. I will let you know. I am also going to make the meatloaf with the broccoli slaw in the muffin tins, another Hungry Girl recipe. If you have a sweet tooth and I do, I have make her Yummy Fuggy muffins (or some name like that) You just take a choclate cake mix (try one with Splenda) and a 15 oz. can of pumpkin. Mix well and bake in cupcake papers. It makes 12 muffins at 180 cal. each and so good.
Cheers..Terri

I use them all the time when I want a noodle substitute. Yes the texture is different from regular noodles but not horrible. Thankfully my nose is always plugged up so I never notice the smell. Do be sure to rinse them well. They aren't real pasta but they are pretty close. I also use quinoa instead of rice or pasta sometimes. It's a nutty flavored grain and very tasty, plus full of protein!
