Alcohol or caffeine?

for 3 days before surgery and for a few weeks after I gave up coffee to allow my pouch to heal up. This was the doc's orders!
but now days I partake in the occassional ****tail. I have to be careful because I get dddddrunk after one or two drinks. Not buzzed, but drunk. I'm talking the spins while sitting at the table after just one rum and coke.
Now the coffee situation is a little different. i have at least one NF Mocha a day. YUM! Surgeon said that was fine as long as it's NF and asked me to switch to half sugar free chocolate and half regular. I'm obliging that request about 50% of the time. LOL!!!

I'm not sure what type there is other than just the one? I drink a 16 oz non fat mocha with hersheys regularly. I make these at home because I have a small krups espresso maker. Everyday I get up and froth my own milk and do my thing. Figure I save about $3.50 by making it at home.

I'm loving these responses!! I have three little kids and a full time job - wake for the day at 5:30 am. I MISS the caffeine with a firey passion. I am only 2.5 weeks out of surgery. To be conservative, maybe I should give it three months and then start with my caffeine again. My next appointment is with the P.A. (who also says no caffeine or booze for the same reason at the nut - empty calories on the booze, metabolizes differently now and hits the liver harder, and caffeine irritates the stomach).
I should have stopped asking after the surgeon, then I wouldn't be in this quagmire.
Thanks for all of the feedback.

Hey there,
I'm a coffee girl. I almost always have one caffeine coffee each morning - either as a coffee or a nonfat sugar free mocha (I call it a fun-free mocha). But then I switch to half-caff or decaff if I am going to have any more.
Alcohol was something I pretty much avoided for months initially. The doctor told me no alcohol at all. My surgery was 12/2009, and I don't think I had any till 8/2010. I've never liked the smell of beer and my partying fruity-drink liquor days have been over for a few years now. So that wasn't something hard to give up for me. We just stayed at an all-inclusive resort though.
I thought of how much money I could have saved if we'd of done that when I was younger! Anyhow, I did have a few drinks that week, but nothing too crazy. Alcohol affects me much easier now and I am just too scared to mess up my band.
