WOW Kate, thank you so much for posting this.  I just scheduled another fill because I am the person that eats til I can't anymore.  I am the person that LOVES the restriction.  Maybe I need to cancel the appt and think about what I am doing....AWESOME article and I agree, it needs to be passed out at the first appointment.  I am going to show it to Dr. Curry next week.

Did you cancel your fill Jenn??  Just curious what Dr Curry thought...
my clinic prefers to keep their patients a bit on the loose side to reduce the chances of slippage and erosion.  The band isn't designed to stop us from eating, but to keep us full, so going tighter than necessary isn't going to make it work any better.

I read this last night and felt so educated on how the band is really supposed to work. It makes so much more sense now.  I hope everyone will take the time to read this!

I wish this could be a "sticky"!

Thanks!  I'm having to regroup and rethink some things myself.  I've gained 6 pounds as I have lost sight of how much I should be eating.

Tami, I always imagine most people are like me and have their settings set to threads appearing in date/time order, not in relation ot thje last reply! So bumping up may not be all that effective!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

It all depends on how someone has their preferences set!  Personally, I prefer to read messages in order of most recent post vs. most recent thread created (or I just click "recent posts").  As I said in an earlier response on this thread, I think this should be a "sticky", but that's not an option with OH!  I seriously think that every bandster should read this, because it's sooo important to realize that we can't rely on the band to "restrict" us from eating!

By the way, I know this is old news, but I gotta say how absolutely gorgeous you are in your avatar pic.
