Everyone is very different as far as this. For the first 2 wks. after surgery I had NO appetite because of the swelling! It was totally amazing to go from being hungry  all the time to not being hungry at all!

Unfortunately that was short lived, lol. I am now 15 mos. out and have had 15 fills and I am yet to reach restriction/sweet spot! :-( Hopefully u will have a better experience that I have had! Good luck!!!

I know this is gonna sound weird but do your listen to the "hungry"? In the begining stages of my band I would take time to listen to the sound of "hungry" because it wasn't always the same. Some "hungry" was because I saw an ad on tv, or had a sudden memory about the way a favorite food tasted, or got ahead of myself by thinking I'd fix whatever that "hungry" was for my next meal. Sometimes I found that "hungry" wanted just three bites of cheese & maybe a drink. My point is that I learned that not all "hungry" is the same, means the same, nor is the same. And when we were obese we never noticed the difference. Now if I get "hungry" & it can till me specifically what it wants (a half cup oatmeal & some room temp milk for breakfast) that I'm ready to eat. But if "hungry" run rampid with all kinds of ideas... then I'm not "hungry" my head is, my old eating patterns are, the obese person that lived my body for many many many years is - but I'm not.

I hope that didn't sound confusing, sorry if it did.

I'd say that's normal. I woke up hungry after my band surgery, and I've heard dozens of bandsters say they were hungry for weeks or months after surgery, until they'd gotten enough fills for their band to start working optimally.

Hang in there...it will get easier!

I had my band placed on Monday 2/7. This is the first time I have been hungry. But when I think about it, it is just probably like the other person posted...I am head hungry. I always wanted a salty snack about nidnight every night and it is that time now. I think I will just go to sleep and try to get it off my mind.
Good luck with yours,
Caren

I was so excited and impressed the day of surgery because I had no hunger at all. Then....the next morning I was starving and stayed that way until I was on mushies. I got relief for about 4 days then suffered until the next phase. Got relief for another 2 days then hungry again. Not head hunger but real starved feeling. I *****ed, moaned, complained, whined, and stuck it out. This is not a fun time but it will not last forever. Sue

Everyone is different. I am sorry you are struggling with the hunger. I was lucky and had no appetite for a little over a week. Hang in there. Just remember this is the time for healing so be strict and stick with your Dr's orders!!!

I woke up from my surgery in pain and very hungry. I stayed hungry until I got some egg drop soup. LOL as the days went by, I noticed that I was dealing with head hunger. It was very hard but I fought through it. Did what I was supposed to do during those first 6 weeks after surgery. The first fill, really didn't do much for me either. I am now at my 4th fill back on January 7th and I have been good on restriction so far.
