Possible band problem

Before the New year, I had left lower quadrant pain for two days. After I got my cycle the pain subsided. I saw a gastro, my surgeons PA, and my gyn. They all blew me off except gasto. He scoped me for an upper GI and found a ulcer, what he called around a stitch in my stomach. So I started protonix, and was to be rescoped in March. Again I had the pain for two days around the time of my cycle so I was thinking cyst rupturing. Today the surgeon called and wants to scope me sort of asap, to check for stomach erosion as there are no stitches per the surgeon. Just wondering if anyone has had this complication. The surgeon says if it is stomach erosion it needs to be removed asap. I have not had that many fills as the insurance company stopped paying for them. The other issue, I am supposed to leave for Florida on Thursday. My Anxiety level is VERY HIGH. The surgeon said we can wait until I get back but I dont think I really can enjoy my vacation thinking I may have this complication. Any advice would be GREAT!!

One lady posted  just a few mos. ago that the erroded at like 2 mos or 4 mos.........something like that. It wasn't long!

So sorry your having these band problems. Unfortunately band problems are very common. How long have u had your band? Have u ever even reached restriction/sweet spot? How many fills have u had?

You need to talk to your surgeon & talk to him. You need to know how much of a medical priority is this, your anxiety about going on vacation w/this problem, & any other general concerns you have. Just take a few moments, take a deep relaxing breath, get informed of your options, & make a smart health choice that your okay to make. It'll be okay!

So sorry this is happening to you. I can understand your anxiety. I suppose if the surgeon thinks you can wait then it must be medically OK but I think that I would want to know before I went if at all possible.

The only comment I would make is that from all i have read, erosion rarely causes the sort of intermittent / cyclical pain you describe. Not saying it couldn't! Just that it usually doesn't. And if the surgeon is prepared to wait, it sounds as if he is not too worried adn my understanding is that with erosion it is usually a n immediate surgery.

Best wishes, Kate

I have had my band since August 09 and only had 3 fills for a total of 6.25. I have never really felt restriction. He seemed totally comfortable with me going away for the week. I have no constant pain and no issues eating. Unless I am really hungry eat too fast, then I bring up just what I ate and can finish a meal fine. Thanks for the replys. I think I am still in shock the surgeon called. I thought this was just an ucler and was going to be alright with the band.
