High Blood Pressure

Is there anything that can go wrong with the band that could cause blood pressure to go haywire?  For about two weeks now I have had trouble keeping my blood pressure under control.  I am taking my prescribed medication and have even taken  two extra doses and still my blood pressure is going as high as 170/98.  I can't see how anything with the band could be causing this but I had to ask.

Before the past two weeks my blood pressure was down from before the band.

No the band doesnt affect your BP.. I would suggest as a nurse (THIS is not medical opinion) that you give your primary care md a call. You may just need tweaking on your medication.. Unfortunately, weight loss doesnt always fix high BPs..
Hope this helps :)

No. Weight gain or loss can affect it over time but the band can't do so. IMO you need to call your doc (not the band doc, your "ordinary" one - not sure how you describe them. We would call it the GP!).

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thanks for taking your time to answer.  My blood pressure was actually lower for a while and I just wanted to ask the veterans just in case it could be indicative of a slip or some other problem.  I didn't think so but now I feel better that I did ask.

I am traveling right now, but will call my GP when I get back home.  Until then I am keeping a check on it and will find a doctor here if I need to.

Was it going higher before you started traveling?  Are you under more stress than normal?  Are you eating foods higher in sodium?

Kristi ... the blood pressure was not elevated before I began traveling.  I have considered the "Restaurant eating" as a culprit ... it certainly is keeping my weight loss at a stand still.  We will be home in a couple of weeks and maybe things will get back to normal.

Thanks for taking time to answer.

I would tend to think the traveling and the food might be the cause of it.  It's good that you are keeping an eye on it.
