(his)band dissolved. They had to go in and get all the pieces of it out of him. They did place another one. One of the reasons I personally chose a different surgery

Answer posted on an earlier thread.  (N.B. Does not refer to anything the original poster was asking on behalf of his wife, just to one of the responses.)

A dissolving band. Which then broke into pieces and had to be surgically removed????????

Anyone ever heard of this?

Troll????

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Well eroded would fit with lack of restricition but NOT wth band replacement. The poster said her brother woke up from the surgery to find, to his surprise,  they had given him a new band. It is my understanding that after erosion that is not possible. And in erosion the band is intact, not in pieces!

i was thinking eroding as well - but i certainly wouldn't have gotten another one in it's place....as was indicated.

I thought that after erosion you couldn't get another one, even if you wanted to. And anyway, the band would not be "in lots of pieces".

i thought so too - especially waking up w/a new one in place w/out knowledge that that procedure was on the table.

not sure about the pieces part - i guess anything can break apart;  just a new one for me.
i know of only one person IRL that had a band erode - she had it removed; had to wait 6 months to revise to a sleeve.     even then it was recommended she wait a yr to heal.

See I thought when people said the term "eroded" it was my understanding that the stomach eroded...not the band.  And no you can't place another band on an eroded stomach.
