questions for those who have had bands removed due to slip
Sadly, I had my band removed at the beginning of January. I was in the hospital for 2 days(dr's orders). I am in Germany though, and stayed four days for the original placement,(drs recommendation) and took 2 weeks off from work for it. I took two weeks off for the removal also, just in case, but really didn't need it. I needed no pain meds afterwards and was given no special diet. that being said, I had no appetite for almost 5 days post surgery, and kept to a soft diet just to be on the safe side. the only thing that slowed me down for work was pants being unconfortable on my stitches. I took advantage of being out of work by living in sweatpants for over a week, but could of been back to work after a few days home.

Hi Dee!
I had my Band removed 12/20 - it was a Monday. I went back to work that Thursday.
I am healthy and fairly young. When I was in recovery, I thought I was back to myself. I jumped in my clothes not even waiting the full time for release. I rode the subway home with my nephew cautious of my incisions. No pain, and most surprisingly no gas!!! I thought wow, this is cool I need no down time.
Well, I got a little woozy, a lot tired when I got home. I made myself some liquidity oatmeal and went and took a nap. My stomach really did not feel any different. It was big - I was pouting about having a big stomach. I was supposed to get revised to a sleeve plication. I was just mourning the fact that I had this huge stomach with no limits. My doc did not give any orders of about my food post removal, but I tried to take it easy. I had bought many things in preparation for my revision so I just "chilled out" and ate more liquid/soft food when I ate. Before I left recovery, one of the nurses said "please go easy on the food, your stomach will still be small for a while" I chuckled and said "my stomach was never small, that was the problem". she then laughed too.
So I held out and did not use any pain relievers - I was given a script for ?(one of those heavy ones) I never filled it. I was just sort of tired for a couple of days. Then the incisions seemed to remain sore for quite some time - until last week actually. I had these disolvable stitches that irritated the heck out of me.
The bottom line is that I wish I had took care of myself instead of taken care of my work place. So a full week would have been fine.
With the exception of one new incision, my doc used all the old incisions I had.
You will not be revising? My advise would be if you could revise right then and there, do it. Removal is a full surgery that requires probably the same amount of healing - or say add in an additional week. Still you would be healing and you would not have to go under the knife again. I was not wise - wish I had chose the VSG, but everything happens for a reason.
I wish you well.
P.S. I had an esophageal dilation that would not resolve

I just want to add that my band was unfilled for 7 or 8 months. I had absolutely no restriction, no limits and so after Band removal, I did not feel "different" in terms of what I could eat and such. I had no different sensation with my stomach inside. I thought I would so I kept a close eye on myself - it's true. I wanted to see if I were different and I was not.
When I had my revision it was about the same as banding. The port site hurt! Same as when my band was placed. Honestly, the thing that hurt was where my port was, digging that out of a muscle is not fun. It didn't hurt all the time, just when I moved. If I was sitting at the computer it was fine. Standing up, sitting down, getting in and out of a car or bed then it felt like a pulled muscle. Not even something I took pain meds for.
