Bandiversary for me as well!
I have never started a thread until today. Normally I just lurk and occasionally try to answer a question someone might have. But I wanted to take the time to thank everyone. As a lurker, I have to say that I have learned so much from everyone. Whether its new foods to try or trying to decide if I need another fill, there's usually always an answer for me on the board. So thank you everyone!
As for my journey, it hasn't been easy. I've dealt with a lot of hunger and a lot of fills, but I know I could't have lost as much as I did on my own. So I am always grateful for the band. Whenever anyone expresses interest in my success, I tell them about my surgery. If anyone says they are considering it, I tell them to look at all procedures, including the bypass and sleeve. I have never had the sleeve, and cannot say how I would have done on it. I appreciated the information that many folks with the sleeve have given. I think everyone should be welcome on the board. My only hope for the next year is for everyone to be tolerant, open-minded, and positive.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the support everyone!
Connie, I didn't even know my doctor was putting the Realize Band in until after the surgery. When I found out it meant I could get a larger fill for the first fill it made me happy. I personally think (and my PA does too) for a lot of people with the realize, it takes more fluid to reach restriction. I didn't get noticable restriction until about 8.5ccs. I got my last fill about 2 weeks ago and it was just .2 ccs. I'm not too tight, but my problem is hunger. Whenever I no longer feel tight in the morning, I know it's probably time for a fill. I only get sick and PB when I"m eating something I shouldn't or when I get too hungry and don't chew well. So for me it only happens once every week or every 2 weeks, which I think is only my own fault. I have noticed a little more night time heartburn, but again it's my fault because I need to avoid eating anything at least an hour before I sleep and I don't always do that. When I went to get my fill, I still had quite a bit of restriction, but I judge it based on whenever my hunger increases. My PA seems to be okay with that. I hope I answered your question and sorry it was so long.
Congratulations Kris you are doing great.
Please come around and post more often, we are here for each other and that is what this board is all about..
