5.1

The main reason I had my lapband was not because I was fat - which I am, not because I wanted to wear tiny, tiny clothes - which I would love to - but because my diabetes was getting way out of control and with my family history, I knew this was one thing I could possibly manage.

The last time I had my A1C levels checked, after banding, they were almost 8. My doc said lose weight, take more medicine (which I didn't) and exercise.

Just got a call from my new doc a little while - level is 5.1. YES!!! 5.1... Have I lost all my weight? No. Can I wear those teeny tine clothes? No but my diabetes levels are great.

Thank you, thank you band.

Good for you. That was also the main reason I had the lap-band surgery. It does do the job.

Congrats Harley Girl! One of the reasons that I got banded was because diabetes runs in both sides of my family. My father is completely blind in one eye and has limited sight in the other due to diabetes. I don't want to end up like him.
