Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16
Ya know what sucks? I JUST got home from my gastroenterologist appointment. I've been having abdominal pain and left shoulder pain again recently.
Doc says that the lapband damaged my Vagal nerve system very, very badly. So, five years after removal of the band, I am still having lingering effects.
I'm scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy and a whole butt load (no pun intended) of bloodwork to see what's happening. And ya know what else? I'm sure they'll find the usual... damage from the lapband. They're going to do an overall health check to see if I'm healthy enough for a revision surgery. I'm going to be heartbroken if I'm not. I'm steadily gaining and feeling more and more hopeless all the time.
So, when I talk about my experience with banding and then get told that I shouldn't talk about it, I get very sad. It's still affecting my life AND I'm fat now, too. Talk about needing support, huh?
My only consolation is that I don't feel like death and can work out daily. I do more exercise than people half my size, so that's the silver lining.
Who knows? Maybe I would have had the same poor results with another surgery, I don't know. I only know one thing for sure... I chose a very bad surgeon. The worst.
