Just because I think you are a bigotted lowlife that did NO research prior to major surgery does not make me bitter, it makes me better than you.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

OK I was like "HUH?" until I realized that happy shiny Renee blocked me - its much easier for me this way. Then when they need help they can unblock me so I don't have to keep track of them.

I love, love, love my band.  It was the right choice for ME.  I researched.  I know my own eating habits, and I decided to go with the band.  I haven't had a minutes trouble with it.  I know that people do through no fault of their own.  I was aware of the risks and complications that could occur with the band as well as those that could happen with the other WLS.  I still chose the band and 2 1/2 years later, I am very happy with my choice.  Working on getting to goal this year :)

There is a reason that u keep hearing negative things about the band. Visit the revision forum. U will find LOTS of ppl on there that revise FROM the band!!! If the band was that good u wouldn't have ppl wanting to put theirselves through the time and expense of another WLS to get rid of the band now would u???

As far as far as weather to have band or gastric bypass............well anything BUT the band!!! RNY, VSG, or DS are all great options!

I have now had 15 fills in less than 15 mos. and still have not reached the "sweet spot". For me it has been a complete waste of time and $15,000!!! Had I known then what I know now I NEVER would have gotten the band!!!!!!!!!

Choose your WLS wisetly!!!

Just my 2 cents....
I had gastric bypass in 2001...... dropped a lot of weight, looked great. After several years the weight started to creep back. The body, its an amazing thing,  eventually overcompensates for the malabsorption in the intestines and you lose that wonderful gift (except nutrients. while my body absorbed calories, i am still severely iron deficient and require blood infusions frequently and had two transfusions when my blood stores dropped to a 1). Additionally, my stomach stretched and was able to hold more food. I never was ok eating lots of starchy things, which is a good thing because if i could- i bet i would have gained every single pound back. Well, almost a year ago I got a Lap-Band in a procedure known as a "band over bypass." Not gonna lie, this is hard work. The gastric bypass had the weight just pour off of me... the Lap-Band makes me bust my butt for every pound. I will say, that I know I would be gaining without the band. While I may be losing a lot slower (I am down just under 50 pounds in 11 months) thank if i had a more invasive weight loss surgery, I am happy with my progress and the lessons I have learned along the way. I had to teach myself how to diet. How to eat. I really needed to use my head in all of this. I think this ill be the key in my keeping it off. I am not at all against the gastric bypass (although, i will say i was hospitilized for 3 months right after from complications, i think my case was rare), because it did what it said. it made the weight fly off off my body. i did not stick to the pouch rules and i sabotaged it. i am pretty sure that back then we were not told as patients that the weight can come back. i was shocked, lol. my BFF had bypass a few months before me and is tiny and looks amazing. i am so happy for her- but i am also not jealous. remember, its not a race. so, i am sure i did not do anything to persuade you to do either. i think its great that we all have so many options to choose from so we can determine what is best for us. i can say that if you have no intentions on busting your butt by following a diet and exercise regimine, you probably will one day hate your band and think it failed you.... or worse, think YOU failed. personally, i think of it as a relationship- neither will work without the help of the other. if you are not certain you will be able to maintain this relationship with your band, then maybe you should consider other options. i would recommend learning everything you can, questioning doctors, etc. The answers will come. In the interim, congrats on the steps you are taking to take control of your health. best of luck to you!!!
