Acid Reflux

I've been Post-op for 11 months now and for the last week and a half I've had some major Acid Reflux at night. I can't sleep.  I wake up choking a couple of times a night.  Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what can I do?

If you are having problems at night, you probably need a slight unfill. Should take care of the choking acid reflux at night.

Also consider a PPI like Prilosec OTC or talk to your Dr about obtaining a RX for Nexium.

When that was happening to me, my band was too tight.  It happened again consistantly and it turned out that I had a slip.  Please get it checked out, hopefully you just need a little saline taken out.

There were days that I could eat great, and days that I could barely ge****er down.  There were nights I would rest peacefully, and nights that I would wake up choking every 20 minutes or so.  I kept thinking that I couldn't possibly have a slip since there some good days and nights about half or a little less of the time.  When I spent my entire Christmas vacation with my family sleeping on the couch so that I could have a trash can beside me and not disturb anyone, I realized somethine had to be wrong.

No, thank goodness.  I had surgery this past March to reposition my band.  My initial surgeon was a quack.  My new surgeon was great, and very careful.  I got very small, well spaced fills after my revison surgery.  So it literally took me 8 months to get restriction again, but I do have it!  I have good restriction without the night reflux and choking.  My biggest problem now is ME.  I gained 40 pounds over that period of time and now I am having trouble getting my head back in to the game.  Slider foods are killing me!!

Hi,I would also add that you may be eating to close to bed time and your pouch is full-Have you had any alcohol when this happens? Several things at play .I might also ask when your last fill was?

You do probably need an unfill, they also told me to take meds for 2 weeks straight nexium I think is what I took. I guess it can take up to 2 weeks before you get your stomach back from all that irriation. But tell you want mine was caused from caffeine! And coffee in general even decaf, pay attention to your body and what you are consuming, everyone has different trigger foods. Good luck!
