I have the mystery solved
Some people just don't understand. I will admit that I am very judgemental of people who did not do well in school because it came so easily for me. I "know" that just because someone didn't go to a great school or even go to college doesn't make them less intelligent but because it was SO easy for me to do, I have to fight my gut reaction not to tell anyone who's struggling with academics to just buckle down and study. It's the same thing with people who've never had weight issues and dieting. So it's not right but it's understandable and it doesn't mean he's an overall bad person, as you know. HE JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU GO THROUGH. That's all.
So, moving on, if your surgery goes well you may be able to sit at a desk by Tuesday and do your job. I was extremely lucky to be able to get a month off work which spoiled me rotton but also got me off to a great start with my new life. About 5 days after surgery I could have started doing my job again but I would have been grumpy and it's kind of strenuous mentally so I am glad I didn't have to. But you do what you have to do.
And in terms of him watching your success, see if you can make him into a supporter! Not that you want him watching you all the time but the fact is, you will succeed (you gotta believe that before you even get surgery) so he'll see you succeeding and he will be happy for you.
And remember to come here and ***** and vent about it. We've all been there.

Thundergrrl: I just have to say I really liked how you described her boss. What a great analogy. After reading that, I felt a sense of letting go of the hurt caused by similar words from my DH. They just don't get it..but that's okay. My respect for you grows. You are such a awesome inspiration and I like the way you view the world.

Yeah - Ive heard that from I cant tell you how many people. Just diet and excercise and lose it the "right" way. It's not that it's hard to lose it (which sometimes you feel like it is) - its hard to lose and keep it OFF!!!!! You can diet and excercise and do diet after diet and blah blah blah but - bottom line is- unless you have been in our shoes - you really dont know.
Revision on 10/10/14
Pardon me for being a bit negative (I call it being realistic) but even with the band you have to diet and exercise so you should tell him you are getting the band so you CAN eat less and step up the exercise. The band doesn't really seem to do much more than (hopefully) keep you from overeating (at least in my experience). I apologize if I'm being negative, but I have had this damn band for almost a year and I am barely 20lbs from my surgery day weight, so you can imagine how pissed I am right now....
