Medical Alert Bracelets

Hi All!

     Do any of you where a medical alert ID bracelet? I want to get one but they seem to be a little pricey. Can anyone recommend a website that isn't so expensive or tell me where I can order one? I'm trying to stay under $30.00.  Also, what information do you have on yours?

I don't' think one is necessary for the band if you have other health conditions I would consider it but not for the band.

My doctor's office gave me an order form for a medical ID bracelet or necklace and suggested that I wear one from now on. It is supposed to read

"No NG tube w/o endoscope" and then have the Dr.s name and phone #...

This kind of answers my question. What if you were unconscious and medics needed to insert tubing into your stomach or something... something to think about.

I think that is an old line of thinking.  But you might check with your dr on what he thinks.  I've not heard of a lot of people buying them on the board but they might be an not announcing it.   

This is a regular question on here and, in general, most people choose not to have a bracelet. It really is what feels right for you.

Problem is that paramedics say that if you were so injured that you were unable to talk,  a bracelet saying no ng tube without edoscope would be ignored! They would save your life and then worry about damaging the tissue round the band!

Me, that's what I would prefer! Emergency treatment is just that - what is necessary to save your life or stabilise your condition after trauma. If you need a drain into your abdomen after trauma, waiting to get to the hospital might be too late!

Like many others, I carry a card in my purse with a  picture of the band and a brief statement in several languages - but that is simply for me to show if i go to hospital in a country whose language i don't speak (I travel a  lot).  My doc's name is on that.

They make them that say lap band. I got one on ebay for about $15.00 with shipping and everything. Hope this helps.

No -- but I did make a copy of my Realize Band Registration card --- and I taped it to the back of my Driver's license.

I also taped one to the back of my surgeon's business card and have my husband carry that one in his wallet -- in case he is ever called upon to make medical decisions for me.
