I had minor electrive surgery last week so not allowed to exercise much (unless going back and forth to the fridge is considered exercise????).

My total for the week was 145 minutes...

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Kath,

Could you please tell me how in the world you get over 500 minutes of exercise in a week???  With work, my kids and husband I am lucky to get 30 min a day (I try to sneak in more!),  Would you also please tell  me what kind of exercise youare doing and how many calories you are burning?  Thanks so much!!

Sam --

My husband and I are training to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon (and back out) in October.

We hike or take long walks on Sundays.

So, I get about 240 - 300 minutes on Sunday alone --- and my heart rate monitor says that I burn about 1,500 - 1,800 calories during those hikes
We usually stop by In and Out Burger and I get a small burger and eat the meat and 1/2 the bread -- and a few fries.

I consider that meal my 'splurge' of the week usually.

On the other days, 3 days a week -- I am doing the Couch to 5K run/walk program --- I add 15 minutes to the beginning and to the end, so I walk/run for 60 minutes (burning about 400 calories)

The rest of the week I am power walking with the dog or doing the elliptical.

I don't have kids (just a hyper-active 6 year old Lab mix who insists on being walked twice a day).
I work from home and don't spend time commuting --- so I usually lace up my shoes at about 4pm and gead out the door.

Way to go Kath!  I'm soooooooooooooooo jealous of your warm weather.  At the moment it's 15 degrees with wind, so don't know what the wind chill is.  And yesterday we had weird rain/ice, so now the ground is all icy.  Almost fell twice walking into work last night.  ( now you have had the Iowa weather update...... and the rest of the week, it's going to be even colder..... )

Crazy cold here in SW MN. That's one of the many reasons I am looking at moving to Oregon this fall.

 Only 60 minutes this week.

The one good thing about being significantly overweight is that the weight comes off even without exercise.  I need to fix my attitude though, the ease of losing is making me a bit complacent...
