The Pollyanna response

I posted yesterday (and got a great response) to say that i was no longer going to challenge negativity direct but that whenever i saw a the-band-is-the-work-of-the-devil post  , I would simply post a positive thread .

So here's today's positive in response to a recent negative!

This band is costing me a fortune! And yes that is a positive - because the fortune I am spending is on size 8 and 10 clothes - replacing all my 26s.

I dimly remember having size 10s last time round - when I was 20 - so 40 years ago.

Not only has my band got me back there - it has kept me there for over 3 years.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

My internet is playing up - tried to post this statement as an edit to my past but can't do it. So posting here instead.

Please note- this is in no way suggesting the band is perfect and works for everyone. It is just to make a positive statement of my personal experience in the same way an earlier thread was the personal statement of someone else's personal experience.

i spend a lot more on high quality food.
i'm very picky about where my calories come from (most days) - so whole foods & central market see's me an awful lot each wk.

also just dropped $387 on custom fit running shoes - oooh and socks.     i'm easily entertained:)

Wow, Kate, I truly feel your pain....in the pocketbook....

My closet is so full of cute size 10 clothes, I can hardly shut the door. I spent so much money on clothes at JCP last year, I got promoted to the Platinum JCP credit card - offered only to the customers who spend the most at JCP each year. Yeah, I could blame that on my employee discount...but I'd rather blame it on this danged band of mine!

My band makes me kind of expensive to keep, too. I don't mind shopping at thrift stores, consignment shops, sales, etc. but I keep seeing things that would be soooo.... great. Suddenly I want things I can be seen in in stead of just having things for when I had to go out. Oh, and I want them to be very flattering. I was picky about that before but now more so. I figure I look dynamite in lots of things now so I am not willing to settle for just ok, or "it looks fine but it shows your rolls a little more". I could also become a shoe **** pretty easily since I want to have spiffy shoes to go with things. Oh, and purses..... I almost forgot jewlery.... you know the drill.

I hate to go out now unless I have my makeup on, my hair looking good, and looking awesome (for an old broad). It is all the fault of this darn band!  Once in a while my hubby works up the nerve to question the need for some of it but he is also wise enough to know that it is better to wait and let my natural cheap streak take over than fight it.

We are re-doing our budget for the new year and my husband actually budgeted in money for me for new clothes every month!!  I'm so looking forward to spending that money in an actual store instead of at one of the 4 websites that make cute plus-sized clothes, I cannot WAIT!!

I've also started a "Wakeboard Fund" because one of my goals is to get up on a wakeboard this summer and not be afraid that I'm too fat for the boat to pull out of the water.  If I get good enough by the end of the summer, I'm treating myself to the girliest, pinkest, most sparkly wakeboard I can find!!

I love the the "Wakeboard Fund"!  I think the best goals are those that go beyond pounds on the scale, inches lost, or even clothes sizes!  Visualizing how your life will change, and seeing yourself doing fun things that you've been missing, is a great technique to keep you focused on your eating and exercise plan.  Hope you have a great time on that wakeboard.

Thanks!  I actually don't even really have a goal weight, (the one on my ticker is kind of arbitrary.)  I have a goal SIZE and goal activities.  I want to be a size 10 because for my athletic (under the flab) 5'11" frame, that's plenty small enough.  But I really have no idea what I'll weigh when I get there.  I want to wakeboard and I want to go on a long hike with my husband and I want to take an adult ballet class and not feel like a whale.

I've bought roughly the same jeans in every size between what I am and what I want to be and those are how I'm PERSONALLY judging my progress.  Obviously I'll be on the scale at the doctor's office regularly and I'll update that because without a doubt, it's a very tangible sign of progress.  But for me... it's the jeans test.
