How many lbs to drop a dress size?

I was just curious to see how many lbs. people lost before you went down a dress size?  I started off a size 24 and curently am a size18 (I lost about 65lbs so far) so maybe every 20lbs I loose a dress size?

Also, when you get to a smaller size does it take less weight loss to go down a size?  I am just wondering because I saw a magazine cover the other day that said Kelly Osborn lost 50lbs & 6 dress sizes.

:)

I think it's different for everyone. I don't think there is a set, "If I lose 10lbs, I'll go down a size." I think it depends on how tall you are, how much you weigh, how you carry your weight, etc. I lost 60lbs on WW's a few years ago and went down only 2 sizes. 3 depending on what brand of clothes I was buying, but mostly I was able to buy 2 sizes down from what I started at.

Hi Carrie!
I think it must be different for everyone. I've lost almost 40 lbs. and have only gone down one size (was a 22/24- now in 18/20) or I guess you could say I went from a 3X to a 2X. It gets frustrating, but I am learning to be VERY patient throughout this whole WLS process.

I agree with the others I think its different for everybody , I have lost 45 pounds before but I refused to go down to the next size because I didnt feel comfortable in them.  They fit but I dont like snug clothes or at least not yet.

I carry more of my weight in my hips, butt and thighs so it's hard to find pants to fit me. they are ether to lose in my waist and way to tight on the bottom part of me and vice versa .

One thing good about having the surgery in the winter time I can live in sweat pants and not have to worry about clothes till next summer lol

Hi Carrie,
Everyone is different,  after my surgery I think it was like every 20lb was a dress size because you are losing weight from all over.  Now the smaller I get seems like it don't take as much to go down a dress size.  I know when I started working out harder I lost 5 lbs and I drop from a size 10 to size 6 to 8 depending on brand.

Thanks ladies:)

It just drives me crazy sometimes!  I view 'dropping dress sizes' as a mini goal and I am so anxious to fit into a size 16!
steelerfan1- wearing sweats all winter would be nice:)  but its going to be in the 80's here in AZ!

I think it's different for each of us.  I have read several places that 10lbs = 1 size.  For me, it's been more like 17lbs = 1 size.  I have noticed that the closer I get to goal the faster I am dropping sizes.

I started out in a size 24/26, and it took me about 50 pounds to get to another size, after I lost the initial 50 pounds it was about 20 and the smaller I got the less it took, example, when I got down to a size 16, it took 10 pounds to get to a size 14, and 10 pounds to get to a size 12, so the smaller I got it only took 10 pounds to get to a lower size.
