I am getting banded on 12/16.  I am on the pre-op diet now.  I had no time to prepare, there was a cancellation and they put me in earlier then I was orginally scheduled for which wasn't until  Jan.. .Yayyy for me.    I am on 2 protein shakes a day, 2 low cal frozen meals , 1 cup of veggies , 1 serving of fruit and water for 2 weeks.
Is this what most went through as well.  I am getting deliveries at work all week of candy to our office and its killing me.  willpower.. willpower.

How did everyone else cope with what I am calling torture weeks.

I had 10 days to loose over 10lbs.  Mine was 2 protien shakes a day with 1 low cal frozen meal and 72 oz of water no caffeine no sweets for the first I think 7 days then 2 days of shakes only and then 36 hours pior to surgery clear liquids only, 12 hours before surgery some nasty crap to drink to flush the system completely.

You can do it! It is SOOOO worth it! Good Luck!

You are lucky you are getting alot more food then I ever did on my pre op !!!   I was only allowed 2 shakes a day , 4oz of meat and 1 cup of veggie at dinner that was it and sf jello.

Water , crytal light is what I was allowed to drink .  I had to lose 10 pounds in 10 days or they would cancel my surgery I ended up losing 12 and that was even starting my period right in the middle of all this now tht was hard lol.

The first few days are the toughest I was hungry all the time and it was hard, but I was so scared of not losing the ten pounds that kept me going.

You can do this , and get use to the liquids if your doc was like mien you are on liquids for two weeks after your surgry .

Keep the faith and the will power going.  !!!! Just think it wont be much longer and you will be having surgery

wow.. I am getting a lot more food then.  I shouldn't complain at all.  Thanks for the help.  It sure seems like a lot of food when I read that again, but it doesn't seem that way by 5 pm haha.

When it comes to meal times your belly will let u know lol.

I think that was the roughtest part was the first three days here I was eating about 2500 to3000 calories a day then all of a sudden dropping down to about 700 day big change.

And you will get tired to, I was in bed by 10 pm every night and Im a late night owl because I was hungry and just no energy.

now, if you are like me I can not go to bed when Im hungry I did cheat on my pre op and drank about 6 oz of milk before bedtime just so I would feel full so I could at least sleep .

All of you are lucky because I was on liquids period for two weeks prior to surgery! I got a call on a Monday and said I was approved and the instructions were, two week liquid diet prior to surgery. And quote from the doctor "today is a great day to end that diet coke addiction". I got that call at 10am and I was terrified not to follow the instructions to the letter of the law. So there was no last meal, no nothing. I wel straight to the store after work and bought Slim Fast and EAS chocolate shakes, Fruit 2 0, G2 and Vitaminwater Zero. And that along with broth is what I lived on for two weeks. Okay, when I was eating soup, sometimes a noodle passed threw to my mouth and I let it go, but other than that, I stuck to it and lost 22 lbs prior to surgery! So you are all lucky that you are getting some real food in there!

22 pounds that is awesome and that would be hard,  it's funny how every doc does something different from pre op to post op.

I was not allowed no food well soups the second week for two weeks and now puree foods Monday I can start some real food thank good ness .

But I have seen post starting food second week or having yogurt just a couple days right after surgery.

I would think all the docs would follow teh same guidelines on this surgery .

I havent gotten hungry yet and Im two weeks out so Im very happy about that .  Head hunger that is something totally different that has been the hardest part of this whole journey so far .

That is the exact diet I was on too. My dr. will cancel your surgery if you do not loose 10% of your body weight prior to surgery. I was so worried about not loosing the weight that I stuck to that diet for 3 weeks and lost 22 lbs. prior to surgery. I think I lost 16 lbs. in the 3 weeks.  Good Luck to you. It is definitely worth it. In fact, I go on that diet about once a month for a few days just to clean out and get my head back in the right spot.

I had to do a 6 month diet pre-op GRRRRRRRRRR  but after pitching a fit, i decided to make the best of it and try to start following the band rules.  Mainly no drinking before, during or after meals.  That was (and still is) the hardest part for me!
Swear AWAY from the candy!  Thats my downfall too!  Ask that they keep it away from your office, or at least where you wont see it every time you walk by.  I had to put a heavy duty rubberband on my wrist and i would pop myself when i started in the direction of the baddies (my new word for goodies) LOL
You can do it!!
