the anointed one who can benefit financially here, is the biggest problem

The anointed one being me?  And the problem being...my honesty?

The idea of me benefiting financially here gave me a giggle.  As I was just saying to James Patterson at lunch the other day, "Writing sure is easy money, huh Jimbo?  Hey, can you pick up the check this time, because I need to save this last $20 for a veterinary bill."

Has it somehow escaped your notice that a particular party that is much, much larger than Jean McMillan (by financial and many other measures) is reaping enormous financial benefits by sponsoring the Lap-Band forum here on OH?  And that another very large party reaps financial benefits by sponsoring the Realize Band forum?  If that's not clear enough for you, let me spell it out for you: Allergan and Johnson & Johnson.

The idea of me being the biggest problem here on OH also produced a giggle, or maybe it was a guffaw.  OH actually prides itself on allowing members to post the good, the bad, and the ugly about WLS.  I suspect that you would consign me to the bad or ugly part (or both), but that's neither here nor there.  As far as OH is concerned, diversity isdandy.  If you doubt me about that, send me a PM and I'll tell you who to talk to about it at OH.

I'm sure we should all feel sorry for Maria or others who are disappointed with the WLS that didn't produce magical results for them.  There are so many complicated reasons for failure of WLS, you could spend the rest of your life trying to assign blame...but without getting any closer to your weight loss goal.

No, no.  Jim and I always go to Flippen's Hillybilly Barn for lunch.  He loves their fried chicken gizzards, hush puppies,  and collard greens, and always has a fried apple pie for dessert.  It's such a great little place, with waiters singing, "She'll be comin round the mountain."

Hi Maria,

Don't ever think that you don't have the right to post. People need to hear all sorts of experiences- including the bad and the ugly, not just the good. That being said, I am so sorry about your experience so far. My heart goes out to you.

Hang in there!

And, just because I'm curious (and because I've only had 4 fills and reached a place where I was restricted to 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food very very quickly), what's meant by "no" restriction? Like you can eat well over 2 cups of food at one sitting? You say you can only eat a "few bites" of bread and pasta... that sounds like you have some sort of restriction, right?

Thanks Alllison.

By no restriction I mean no "sweet spot". And yes I could eat 2 cups easily.

Maria, I am so sorry that you have had problems. I have not had the best experience with my band either.  It started out with a bad surgeon that led to slip.  My new surgeon, who fixed my slip, has taken my fills so damn slow I have had no restriction until a few weeks ago.

Almost 3 years out and over a year of that journey with no band helping me, I am frustrated and have lost a lot of my will to eat right.  For now, if I don't lose weight it is my fault, not my band's fault.

I have been in your spot and know how frustrating it is.  I hope that you can revise to another WLS.  The band definitely doesn't work for everyone.   (((HUGS)))
