I am sorry you have not had the success you had hoped with the band. I'm sure it is even more difficult being private pay. I also have had 13 fills. I have some restriction but not like what other people describe here but I prefer it that way. I think the "sweet spot" is somewhat a myth and open to interpretation depending on the persons preference. I asked my surgeon to be very conservative. therefore even though I have had 13 fills I only have about 6.5 cc's in my band 2 years post-op. Do you know how much fluid you have? I hope you are able to have the revision of your choice and wish you the best of luck.

I know some drs don't like to focus on fill amounts but I think it is kinda important especially when I hear of all these unfills and refills I hear about. Are you going to try more fills or are you set to get a revision? I know if I lose my band I would want VSG but right now my insurance won't cover it, So hopefully if something happens it will be far enough down the road that my ins. will cover it by then. Again sorry you are having problems wish I had some words of wisdom but all I can do is offer my support and ask you to please not give up no matter what you decide. I know this must feel as bad or worse than another failed attempt at dieting and I know what kind of mindgames that perpetuates. We have all been there. Remember YOU are worth it.

I have to give up. A yr. is just way too long to waste to not get restriction!!! Some ppl on here don't seem to care if it takes longer.........I however, do!!! I also feel that MOST ppl would NOT want the band if they knew in advance that it could take a yr. or longer to get restriction. That is why ppl like me need to post these things! Ppl should know these things IN ADVANCE!!! I was told in advance that it would take longer to lose weight with the band, and I was fine with that. I am NOT however, fine with ONLY losing weight by starving myself after I have paid $15,000 for this piece of crap!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen way too many ppl on this forum waste yrs. trying to get their band to work! One lady said she was 20 mos. out b4 she got restriction! Others NEVER get it! I see no reason to waste anymore time or money on it.
There was a post about a month ago and this lady had hers 2 yrs. with no luck. She was actually hoping for a slip so she could get her band removed. Some ppl were very nasty to her and posted back some crap about "she needed to give her band a chance" "try to work with her band"............OMG! That poor woman had been doing that for 2 yrs.! Just how long do some of u think ppl should waste on this thing?!?!?!
I do though want to thank u for your kind post. Nice to see that we can disagree on things and not get all nasty and attack ppl that don't just b/c we don't like that they have had a bad experience with the band.

Hi hon you know I feel for ya and absolutely understand. I know most folks don't want to hear what you have to say but it is true. For many of us the band was just a joke and does not work and it is NOT always our fault. I wish I could fix it for all of us that have so much trouble with our bands and yes I know of quite a few who no longer post because they are bashed everytime they do. One in particuloar I remember is Tonnabug who was run off with the bashing. So sad for one so young to have to face not only the obesity but bashing on top of it when she needed help. Anyway
