Well I have not been on here in forever. Sorry! Just out living life. My question is when is it enough. I have changed my goal so many times. I reach it and I want more. Some people tell me to stop being greedy and quit. I really don't know what that means but anyway. I am 16 months out and have lost 118lbs. I am 5'10 and now weigh 165lbs. I really want to get to 160lbs but it is hard. It's taking more time now for me just to lose a pound. I guess when you have been in weight loss mode for so long it's hard to imagine life not doing it.

Hi There,
Have you talked to you surgeon?  I kept doing the same thing.  I wanted to get to a normal BMI and wasn't happy with that and then lost 7 more pounds.  I went in to see my surgeon last week and he said I was fine where I was at but if I wanted to lose more weight limit it to 5 more pounds.  I'm down 2 lbs and will probably go another 4 lbs to round it out to 145.  I'm only 5' 7"1/2 so I'm shorter then you.  I really think that it takes time for our heads to catch up with the weight loss and we don't always see what everyone else sees.  Good luck

Are you a respiratory therapist? I have been an RT for 18 years. Just curious. You have done a great job with your weight loss!

Jen,

I've changed my goal several times.  I'm much shorter than you (5'3 1/2") and my first big goal was 150.  I got to that goal, but was still considered overweight.  I felt like I could keep going, so I set my next goal at 135.  I met that, and didn't feel like I was quite there.  I thought being able to say that I'd lost 100lbs would be cool, so my next goal was 127 - where I currently reside.  If the truth be told, I'd really like to hit 120.  I know it's just a number on the scale, and everyone tells me "You're done, right?"  But I do still have fat on my body and think I would be just fine at 120.  Bottom line is I think it's a personal decision, and we KNOW when we're at a good weight that's right for us.  I don't think anyone would even notice if I lost another 7 lbs.

I think you're right... it is hard to imagine life not doing it.  For me, I have a day where I eat & drink the not so good things, and then work the rest of the week at getting it back off again.  This seems to keep me in maintenance mode! - haha!  It is SOOOOO hard to lose a pound now that it seems impossible.  I wi**** just came off like it did before...

Anyway, I don't think it's greed at all. I don't know about you, but I just don't want there to ever be a question - is she fat?  Big boned?  Do those jeans make her look fat?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not in to anorexia... loves me the food way too much - lol!

My surgeon thinks I'm at goal.  I decided that I want to get to a "normal" healthy BMI of 24.9, which for me is 149 pounds.  I'm 5' 5& 3/4 inches tall.
I know that maintaining is going to be the most challenging part of this journey for me.  Losing weight is "fun", hahaha  and maintaining is seeing the same number and I've never done that for more than a few months prior to the lapband.  But I know I can do it with the help of the band.  I believe I can do it.  Before I got the band I already was thinking about the maintenance portion of this journey.

I'm sure at some point you will know when you have hit your goal and feel good where you are at.  Congrats on 118 pounds!  That is great!

I havent changed my goal YET! lol.  My goal is at 165 right now, but I think Ill stop when my body feels right.  I still want to be thick, never wanted to be a skinny girl. So maybe 160 with muscle mass.  Im on my 4th week of Insanity and I have no idea what I weigh right now, because I made a deal with some facebook friends that we wouldnt get on the scale until September.  I know I want to get rid of my stomach pooch, so whenever thats gone Ill be fine! lol
