Has anyone had this problem?
So first of all, I should start by staying my recovery has NOT been "normal" or "typical," so if you're looking to have surgery, please don't look to me for typical results. Do not think this will happen to you.
My recovery was slower than most to begin with - age, menopause, who knows why - but two weeks out, I was just starting to feel human. Then, two weeks after surgery, I got hit with the worst lower abdominal pain I've ever had. Long story short, by that Friday (five days later), after many tests, they determined I was severely dehydrated. Off "full liquids," off protein drinks - water...nothing bu****er...for five days.
After rehydtrating myself and starting to move through the process better, I now notice that I can "feel" my port right under my skin. My other incisions are all healed, but my port incision is swollen, warm, and I can feel the port underneath. Ice makes it feel better and reduces the swelling somewhat, but I can still clearly feel the port.
I'm calling the doctor tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I can feel my port if I put pressure in the area. That being said make sure to call your dr first thing in the morning. swelling, redness, and warm to the touch are signs of a possible infection or blood clot. You might even want to call the after hours number for your clinic to make sure it can wait till morning. I don't want to scare you it is probably just a small infection but if it were me I would call the after hours number for my clinic. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
My port incision took a while to heal and was swollen the longest. As far as being able to feel it, that is normal and as you lose weight, at least for me, it gets worse. Some people when they decide to have plastics actually have their port repositioned also.
BUT... if anything is red and/or warm, definitely call your Dr. and in my opinion anytime you are not sure something is right call them, that is what they are there for.
Good luck!
