Need advice

All,  I've been banded for 4 years and although my success has not been great I have lost weight and kept off the 50 pounds.  I have struggled with my 4cc band since day 1, it being too tight, not tight enough, too this or too that... to make a long story short, the band has slipped as seen through a barium swollow - the band is empty and the barium would not flow through the band, it just sat there for an hour.  Sure maybe a drop went through, but nothing more than that.

So,,,, my question is:  has anyone ever had their band removed?  what can I expect as far as recovery?  Any info would make me feel less gittery... Thank you all..  PS.. my surgery is being scheduled as emergency 7:00am this Thursday.

So sorry you are going through this!!

I had a slip and surgery in March to re-position my band.  So far, everything is good.  My big complaint is it has taken me over 5 months to get any kind of restriction.  My doc is being super careful with my fills.  Any chance they can give you a newer 10CC band?

The same thing happened to me! But mine came unclipped so if you are not getting restriction at all ask them to check that for you..

What about having one of the newer larger bands placed at the same time?

Since she has struggled with her band 4 yrs. as it is I don't really think that would be something she would want to put herself through again.

I've had my band removed and a revision to a sleeve. What you write is verrrrry familiar. Sorry you are going through this. It's not really a big deal, meaning the surgery. At least mine wasn't.

Thank you all for your feedback.  My nut won't do anything for 3 months after my band is removed.  He wants my stomach to heal.  Its been pretty painful this last month, so I'm sure it has been slipped for a while now.  I will go with the sleeve next time, either my band was so tight i couldn't eat or it was so lose i could eat anything.  There was never a happy medium.  Keep me in your prayers for Thursday - I'm one of those people who plan everything so doing this in 2 days has me pretty stressed out.
