I have faith that my port is damaged, hopefully we can replace it, we will see after I see my new doctor and see what his findings are, good luck with your revision.

Hi Jean, I totally agree something is not right, and I desperately trying to find answers with my new surgeon office, I've had many many fills becasue restriction would only last a few months.
I am at 19 monhs and I've had about 15 fills and 2 small unfills due to being tight from stress. I see my surgeon about once a month, and usually get a fill each visit. There have been at least three times we've decided not to do a fill because I felt I was okay with where I was with restriction. For the last year, my fills have only been about .2 at a time because I'm very sensitive to large fills. So it seems like alot, but it depends on how much you get each time. If you're paying for them, that's really alot of money. Mine are covered by insurance.

Hi Cat,
I've only had to get a few unfills, I had a few times where I was too tight and get to get a small amount remove, there were many times when I went to my surgeon and I did not get a fill, he only filled me when I did not keep restriction or if I was losing weight, my fills were average and not that conservation, in the begining when I was a new bandster he would fill give me larger fills and once I got near optimal restriction he would only give me very small fills like .1 or .2, and YES it's WHOLE LOT OF MONEY to end up not having restriction, the MAIN reasons why I've had so many is they never last for more than a few months and I never got an answer why.

Sesmith, you are very luck! I only wish this was the case with me, I believe our fills are how they SHOULD BE, my new surgeon will use Flursocopy with me, I've never had that, yes we have the same size band too. The last fill I got was suppose to take me to 2.4ccs, but I feel loser now than when I went in, she says I had 2.2 in my band. Hopefully the new doc can give me answers, hopefully my pouch is not dialated but we will see.
I think it depends on how agressive your dr. is with fills. I'm not even a year out and have had 12 fills and 2 unfills. But, I only got 2cc first fill, 1.4 cc second fill, and only .4 or .5 each fill after that. It's taken a lot to get me to restriction, so I'm not too concerned. Some come on here and have gotten 5cc for their first fill. If it had been that way for me, I would have only had about 4 or 5 fills by now. So, no, in 5 years, it doesn't seem excessive if your dr. only gives you little fills. It appears, however, there are other issues at work for you, so you may want to check into what is going on.

Jenn,
I never got aggressive fills, I know how dangerous that can be, most of my fills have been GOOD FILLS, problem is they never last, that's my whole argument, and yes that is why I am changing doctor to see and have someone else take a look to see what is really going on, I should have changed doctors 3 years ago, and perhaps we would not be having this discussion.

At first glance it does SOUND excessive, but I guess it really depends on the fills and how large they are (or aren't as the case may be.) For people that have larger fills (say, 3cc for the first one and a full cc for subesequent ones) who find restriction quickly, a smaller number would be more expected.
However, there are people (me being one of them) who needed much smaller fill amounts (tenths of a cc sometimes) to make the difference between underfilled, perfect, and overfilled.
That being said, an average of 12+ fills a year sounds really high to me.
