Cheryl, I am a highly paid software engineer, honestly money is NOT an issue for me, I simply WANT AND NEED ANSWERS of why saline has leaked out of my band for the last 5 years, once I find out the status of my band I will decide whether or not to move forward with any legal counsel. All I really want is a functioning band where the restriction lasts where I can lose weight that is all I am asking for. I agree the new surgeon probably don't want to get involved with any type of lawsuit, I would not ask him to get involved I understand in the medical community they are very reluctant to get involved in any patient/doctor disputes.
I've had my suspicions with the doctors office a few years back and questioned why I needed so many fills since my saline NEVER EVER LAST, have I ever had good restriction? - YES many times this is how I lost most of my weight, but it NEVER EVER lasted for more than 3 months, this is why I've had so many fills.
To answer this question:
It would be easy to infer (not actually say) you were a neurotic patient obsessed with getting fills and were otherwise preoccupied/obsessive about your band, and your outstanding success with your weight loss indicates the band not only worked for you, but he was diligent in providing you care. He is more experienced in medical/legal issues and will have the upper hand if you try to deal with this on your own.
My outstanding success was based on MY EXERCISE EVERYDAY and consistent fills, I got many many fills because I was determine to meet my goal despite the fact that I never kept restriction long, this is MY WHOLE POINT, I don't think he has the upper hand if I decided to seek legal counsel, my argument is WHY DO I NEED TO KEEP COMING BACK? I was 15 pounds from a normal BMI and I was 3-4 years out, and I still needed fills every 2-3 months if I wanted to continue to lose weight? OR MAINTAIN WHAT I LOST? Something was dreadfully wrong here, I should NOT NEED fills when all the fat pad is gone, I never got my question answered if I truly had a leak or not these are the questions that has never been addressed I have documented records from Allergan needing answers to find out if I had a malfunction in my port 2 years ago, and that HAS NEVER BEEN ADDRESSED BY MY SURGEON, I truly believe he knew that I really did not have a leak, but somehow the port could be manipulated in a way to not fully close and the saline would slowly leak out, I don't believe I have a leak, I just think I got bad fills meaning filling me too tight sneakingly and purposely or too loose, or if I had a leak those concerns have never been addressed or answered.
These are arguments that have not been addressed, this is why I was very concerned about never keeping GOOD restriction and I wanted answers from my surgeon to find out if I had a leak or not and my surgeon NEVER answered or checked me to find out, I just kept going back to get fills because I desperately wanted to get to goal weight.
Thanks for your thoughts tho....

Hi, 22 is probably not that excessive if you have been tweaking, my whole point is I've NEVER KEPT restriction for longer than 3 months it's either leaked out or I was too tight, congrats on your weight loss.
Trixie,
I can almost guarantee that she is kidding, or vying for our attention.
Just take my word for it.
