Hungry and Eating and Need HELP
I am 4 weeks post op and I am so hungry...I think I made a mistake because I started eating pretzels and also No sugar ice cream...I do not feel any restriction anymore, which I am assuming is because I have no fill and the swelling is going down. I am hungry and not really following any particular plan. I know I have My Nut plan but it is getting old fast and I don't feel like I am eating right...Today I had a cup of special K with skim milk, I protein shake. 2 eggs made into egg salad, some wheat thins reduced fat, I sugar free pudding, I can of Light progresso soup, I yogurt, alot of pretzel sticks and some Non Sugar ice cream..this is not good I don't think..I am sick of protein shakes, tuna and eggs...I feel lost and confused. I don't get my fill till another 2 weeks and I am not doing well with this..I need more structure and something more substantial to follow...any ideas?

Are you on mushies or on to solids? I used chunky soups pureed while I was on mushies cause I didn't like the sweet taste of shakes. Or you can puree solid meat like chicken or pork and add a little ketchup or worstershire sauce. Most of your foods are slider food so aren't keeping you full plus you are in bandster hell until you get a few fills and some restriction. Right now it's basic diet skills 101, hang in there it'll get better. Try to eat the densest food you can to feel fuller.
Aww Gia... hang in there! If it makes you feel any better, I am struggling also.... Are you still on liquids? My Dr told me to stay away from the liquids for now on because they just won't keep me satisfied until i get the first fill. Figures since i practically bought out walmarts atkins shakes the day before surgery. DUHHH Your diet for the day doesn't seem all that bad to me since you don't have a fill yet but I guess what really do I know?
I've decided I'm just going to start each day fresh and leave yesterday in the past. I started logging all my food daily and it does seem to help me stay on target, when I do it anyhow. Today was definately a better day than yesterday! (((HUGS)))

I know Tammy...This has to be the hardest part...I am not on full liquids, but I am on pureed foods...I am waiting patiently for the first fill and to feel satisfied,,,I am so hungry all the time and feel like I am stuck! I need more variety also as I am a picky eater...Your right leave yesterday in the past and start fresh today! Thanks!!!

Hi Gia...glad you are feeling better. I made a lasagna that did not use noodles (I used grilled zucchini or eggplant or both for the noodle layer)...it has ff cottage cheese mixed with an egg and parmesan cheese for the ricotta-like filling, ground turkey cooked and crumbled very finely with italian seasoning, garlic and finely chopped spinach for the meat filling and I use a pre-made sauce...just layer it like you would lasagna, use a little less mozz and bake. It is so yummy that my family now requests it for our gatherings...we are Italian so if this passes muster you know it is good!
It also fills you up.
The pre-made polenta baked with sauce and cheese is also good.

First of all - don't panic. At the moment it is all down to you, the band is not making life any easier just yet!
But a few pointers -
looking at your day:-
Special K (slider food) washed down with milk (washed down being the operative words!)
nothing filling there!
Protein shake, liquid, goes straight down. Some people do find them filling but that feeling is unlikely to last for long.
eggs - good protein - good choice!
everything else is a slider food!! Things like pretzels go down to a mush and juat slide through!
If you are on solids, get some solid protein in! If you are on mushies, still get protein but from thick, high protein soups etc. These can be any flavour you like and really thick. I have always found them very filling.
Is your nut's plan really nothing but shakes, eggs and tuna?? If you are on soft foods or mushies, take some mashed potato, add fish or tuna, make a soft fish cake.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I agree with Kate, there's a lot of slider foods going on.
The other thing I noticed is the pretzel sticks. Those are likely white carbs/high glycemic which have the affect of spiking your blood sugar up and then dropping rapidly and making you hungrier sooner. Not a good thing to happen right now.
Try some nonfat greek yogurt, add a tiny bit of a whole grain cereal (if permitted) and a small amt of fruit (if allowed). That should keep you fuller longer than special K & milk. I use Dannon plain fat free greek, 1/4 cup Bob's red mill muesli and 1/4 cup strawberries or blueberries. If the cereal/fruit is verboten for now.. try some s/f fruit flavored syrup (torani & davinci both make them) or some s/f maple syrup.
Good Luck!
