Stomach fold skin irritation and odor ~ blech
I know this reply is somewhat after the fact, but if others come across it, it may help. From what I have seen in the replies, I think the majority of them are correct. My mother was much larger than I am. A little while before she passed away, she started having horrible problems with rashes of this nature popping up. The "team" of doctors (it was more like a league) all agreed that the best solution was to use an over the counter anti-fungal cream to get rid of the rash, and in combination, use a diaper rash ointment (Desitin works great!) to help keep it away. It seems to come from moisture being trapped in the skin folds, and it's usually a simple fungal or bacterial infection. You can also use an anti-septic gel/shower wash when you take your showers. All of them, however, warned to stay away from anything with fragrance anywhere near the area, to please consider powders of any type to be "the enemy", and to just be aware of any changes for the worse. If the skins breaks, starts bleeding, or becomes unusually painful to not hesitate to talk to your general/family doctor.

I took 2 showers a day, that helped a lot. I also took sanitary napkins and attached two together so that the sticky parts were not on my skin and would put two between my skin and the pannus. I finally had to have a TT - even before I got to goal because the skin was so bad and it caused me chronic back aches.

Hi
i just saw my dr. Today about this very problem as I too have a panniculus awaiting a surgical repair. My big issue is since I've lost over 150 pounds and kept it off for 4 + years, my skin cracks and breaks open. My dr. Says they sell soft cotton pads to absorb moisture in these areas. Has anybody ever heard of these or know where they are available. I need to have areas closed prior to surgery
Thanks
Hi. This sounds like a yeast issue. The itching van be far worse than psoriasis. I know, I have both issues. Keeping the area dry is the most important thing. Topical Candida is the proper term. And remember that bread and sugar are going to feed the candida, so avoid them as much as possible. There are also otc yeast infection creams that help. And some that don't. I found the ones with clotrimazole as the active ingredient worked best for me.
Thanks again for all the advice. I am going to track this with my doctor because I'm sure it is only going to get worse over the summer.
