Took 2 time released vitamins and they are not going down
They are not stuck in my band, they just arent going down........they must have expanded and are sitting there releasing the vitamins in my pouch or something. It is painful, nauseating and I'm sure very irritating to my pouch. I've had about 4 cups of hot tea, eaten different foods, etc. and nothing helps. Do I need to go to the ER or just wait this out? Thx, Natalie
Lapband 4/08 removed 3/10.....Sleeve scheduled for 12/28/2010!!!!!!
If food and drink is still going down, I would wait it out. They will eventiually dissolve. Drink as much as you can to flush them through but as they are time release, they are presumbalby designed to dissolve slowly!
Always phone your own doc if you are worried.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Hope you're fine by now. Please remember ALL meds/vitamins must be smaller than an aspirin or chewed up well (many meds cannot be chewed) to be safe.
the Bariatric Advantage chewable multivits for BANDSTERS are ideal.
The ER can do nothing for you - they likely have never seen a banded patient, and there is nothing to be done anyway. If someone is truly stuck on something that would not dissolve (as vits will), then an urgent unfill and/or endoscopy can be done to remove the glob.
Drink hot liquids, slowly, and put a warm heating pad on your chest to help relax and open te stoma.
your poor stoma will probably be sore and irritated for a couple days - especially if the vits had C in them, which is an ACID. I'd suggest liquids only for 24 hrs, then a day of soft foods, then back to regular if all is well.
Prevention of problems like this is easy - please review all the band rules so you avoid trouble. Sorry you had some, temporarily!

I know that "time-release" pills are on my doc's list of things to avoid with the band, and I assume it's for this reason. It's best to stick to chewables, liquids, or band-friendly meds.
I think the only thing you can do is continue with the warm liquids and wait it out. Like the OP said, it would be a good idea to stick to liquids for a day or two when this is over to calm your irritated pouch.
I'm sorry this is happening. Good luck.
