you need to call your doctor

you should not be having acid or heartburn or discomfort like this all day long
you may need a slight un-fill

that sounds like acid reflux which indicates you're too tight.

Has this resolved itself, miss. pug?

I can tell you what causes this, if you still need information.

Of course, I'm probably one of the "HATERS" you are referring to in your latest thread, so maybe you don't want useful information that might help you... you know, because it's "negative" and all.

Oh well, I'll say it anyway, in case it can help the others experiencing this.

The burning sensation is from the stomach swelling in response to the band being squeezed tighter. As the stomach swells and becomes inflamed, it presses up into the region of the diaphragm. The stomach and surrounding tissue is incredibly sensitive. We couldn't digest if it wasn't. The Vagus nerve system runs through the area and becomes irritated very, very much. It causes all kinds of painful responses: burning, stabbing feeling, dull throbbing. The diaphragm is the culprit and since it's never actually "felt" pain, it refers it to the chest or shoulder area. And it's a very common response in lapbanding patients. But this fact isn't divulged very often because it would affect sales adversely.

So, I hope you're no longer experiencing this pain and... you're welcome for trying to help you in spite of your less than gracious screaming on the board this morning.

I think this will be my "new and improved" style of posting...like it?  Is this better than my usual honest way?  The more threads I see about how those of us who had band problems should shut up, the more I'm going to post like THIS. And it makes me feel really crappy, honestly.  I should be able to recount my experience in an attempt to help others without being told to shut up and "go home," don't you think?

As mentioned in my recent post, I think it is important to know the pros and cons of the band and to help answer questions when they arise. What I was referring to was the few constant responders that don't necessarily answer the questions.... they start bashing the band immediately. That helps no one. BTW, I wasn't even referring to your posts.

EVERYONE should be able to post whatever they feel is appropriate without someone SCREAMING how they should stop talking.

Everyone. No matter if it offends your sensibilities or not.
Every day I see someone happily posting about how they were approved for banding and every day I see tons of threads about complications. I don't scream that people who are approved should shut up and go home... because I understand they're happy about their opportunity. I see it as a painful mistake they're making, but I don't start threads, screaming that they should shut up because it upsets me to see it and to have to think about the pain they are likely to experience.

I found your thread today extremely offensive. And that turns me into a *****y type of person... something I don't ever enjoy being.

I really do hope that you aren't experiencing pain anymore, though. I mean that honestly. It sucks to have high hopes and then realize that in order to lose weight, you have to have accompanying pain. It is sad and disturbing and I don't like it for anyone.

Aren't you glad that simple things like heartburn or acid reflux can be easily fixed with medication or a quick unfill -- people who've never had surgery can suffer from this as well, you can't do this if you had a more invasive surgery, thank god we have options with band. I've experienced acid reflux briefly too, like many other bandsters, but the good news is it can be quickly fixed if we immediately get appropriate aftercare.

Just because you've had fill issues or have suffered acid reflux is not a reason to bash the band, god knows I've complained about my fills a few years ago, but that was fixed when I did something about it and changed surgeons.

I am not sure why people think the band is suppose to be a perfect tool, it comes with risks and problems just like any other weight loss surgery, most positive bandsters KNOW THIS, but again, it beats complications with other weight loss surgeries, such as being on a feeding tube, leaks, having to get your entire stomach removed, constant iron infusions, costly labs and vitamins, in out of the hospital constantly for weakness and hernias and obstructions, and other unforeseen horrible medical conditions. I think a bout of reflux or acid should be the least of our worries since with more invasive surgeries, patients will experience this too plus a boat load of more issues.

Never let people try to bully you or scare you on this forum with issues that you've had with your band, that just shows they have a miserable life and have a lot of time on their hands to dig up posts to terrorize people, I think people that no longer have a band should be barred from posting on the band forum, unless their post is meaningful or brings value.

"Have a lot of times on their hands." Ha. You are so... BORAT.  Your grasp of the English language is so tenuous. It's a lot of fun.

It's very meaningful, the way you post.  "More invasive surgeries patient experience this too plus more issues."
