14cc Lapband?
~ I go for my first post-op visit/fill on 07/28/09 in my 14cc band... My question is
Do you have a 14cc band?
If so, how much was your first fill?
I know each person, their situation & surgeon are different.
I have NO restriction at all right now & from what I've read, a lot of people don't have restriction with their 10cc bands. My fear is my surgeon will put 1, 2 or 3 cc's in and I still won't have restriction I really need it especially coming off of liquids. Any thoughts?

I think I was an exception but it took me 12 fills to have good restriction with the 14cc band. My first fill was 5 cc's, then 2 cc's, then 1cc then various increments until we were doing 0.2 cc's at a time because I was "almost there". It's a tough road but worth it once you get that restriction. Yes every person is certainly different

I have a 14 cc band & my first fill was supposed to be 3.5 cc's but that was too tight. I'm really sensitive to the fills & my stoma swells. The restriction lasted about a week then I had to book for another fill. I got too tight at 4.5 cc's & had to have an unfill, but now I'm at 4.3cc's. It's just about right. Hope it lasts long.
Dr says I have a large fat pad around my stomach, but that it's good that I'm getting restriction at a lower volume. It will allow me to have room to keep getting fills as I lose weight & the fat pad gets smaller.

Hi Julia,
I have the "large" size lapband so I assume it's the 14cc one although I'm not positive. My dr. said they come in regular and large and I got the large.
My first fill was 1.5 cc's and I got a bit of restriction with it...not much, but some. I can definitely tell a difference pre-fill and post fill. The only items that have been a problem post fill have been chicken, scrambled eggs (if too dry) and oatmeal (which I've only tried once).
I get another fill this week (YAY) and I'm more than ready! I really don't notice the hunger like I did pre-fill, though and that is wonderful!!! :-)
We're all different but yes, I got a bit of restriction with my first (1.5 cc) fill.

14cc band, and I got 6 cc's on my first fill.
What that your choice or Dr.C's???? I really wanst offered a choice though i did ask for low profile port.
OT- Dr. C will be on the 6pm news tomorrow with a new bariatric procedure. I think it is the ballon they put down your throat into your stomach then blow it up. Sounds neat and they have a guy who is now 185 pounds who they tried it on.

How long are you on liquids?
I was on 'regular food' for 1 week before my first fill (and I got a fill at 4 weeks post op)
I have an 11cc Realize Band and he put in 5cc -- and then had to draw out 1cc because 5 was too much.
I will say that my surgeon is the most aggressive I have seen ---- I was expecting 2cc at the most -- and was really a little nervous when he put in so much -- but I have felt fine and not had any sliming or stuck episodes with my fill.
