I got spray tanned today for the first time ever, I normally use benzoyl peroxide for breakouts on my face and back. Does anyone know if this will bleach the sunless tanner  or leave splotches? I would hate to ruin my new tanning experience! Thanks a bunch guys

I haven't used benzoyl peroxide after a spray tan, but when I used Mederma scar gel after a fake tan, it "bleached" the tan in that area.  So I would call the people that sprayed you and ask their advice.  It would be a shame to pay for a spray tan and end up blotchy.

How exciting, I've been thinking about getting a spray tan myself.  Give me the details of how they do it if you wouldn't mind.  And cost too if you don't mind.

Do you need to go several times or do you just go the one time?  How long is it supposed to last?

Thanks so much!!!!

Currently I'm waiting for it to develop fully it takes a few hours. I got it done in a machine in a private room you get in naked and it sprays it tells you when and how to turn. I went to a chain called suntan city it is half price on sundays so it was 16 today normally 34, apparently it lasts five to seven days. I will tell you that currently I have a streak on my right arm and an orangy wrist that has developed so I'm not too pleased with that but the rest of me does not look much different yet. I'll update you tommorow morning but I think I have bad tanning karma! lol every time I have ever tried the fake tan thing it backfires oh well you live and learn and hopefully no wrinkles!

Yes, the benzoil peroxide will remove the tan to some degree. But if you need to put that on, go ahead and then use some of that slow tan lotion like Jergens for the face. I do the spray tan once a week and it does take practice to get it even. But since I wash my face 2x a day, it fades quickest there. So I normally supplement with the lotion anyway.

Benzoyl peroxide will definitely fade the tan.  You may want to consider a oil free non comedogenic face tanner.  One that I really like that is made for the face is By Hempz.  It is a professional product.  Great stuff.  It shouldn't cause  additional break out.  The spray tan can really clog your pores.  So, make sure when you wash your face, you use a wet wash cloth to remove your cleanser.  Then you could apply the face tanner.  Some tips for spray tanning(airbrush tanning is far better than mystic tan...way more control over the application.)

*EXFOLIATE,EXFOLIATE,EXFOIATE, your whole body before you have it done.  Use a really good salt scrub with exfoliating mitts or cloth.  This will make sure it goes on even and smoothly. Make sure you exfoliate well before each tan.

* Make sure you coat your hands and feet with a lotion barrier so thet dont turn orange or blotchy.

* If you do it at home use a sponge to blend in the spray after you apply.
