Is too much crystal light bad for you?

Funny this question was asked just last week I did a test.  See I have been drinking artificial sweetened drinks since I was 8.  I mean not an ounce of water at all....I hate hate water.  Since after surgery I had to give up my beloved Diet Coke I replaced it with caffiene Free tea sweetened with splenda.  Of course once again this was all I was drinking up until a week and a half ago.  See the reason I did this test is because I have not lost a pound since the first part of December, and I felt that I was doing everything right....SO I got to thinking that maybe the splenda was what was causing the stall.  My results after one week on water I lost 2 pounds.  Now after not loosing for 2 months and then that was what I changed and I lost, you can decide what you think about it,  Now this being said I am not saying that this would be a problem for everyone, but I am thinking my body does have some kind of reaction to it.  Also I have been drinking about 80 ounces of water and then I reward myself with one 6 oz glass of tea at night  after drinking all my water.  So I went from drinking about 100 ounces of sweetened tea (splenda) to only 6 oz...huge difference.

I also want to add that I am so scared that I have jinxed myself by telling everyone I lost two pounds, I mean after five months I am so scared that it is just trick on me.....Always scared!

Hope that this has helped!!!  BTW I still really really dislike water......and I never ever drink fauce****er, it taste horrid!!!!! (along with some bottles of water)  I am very picky on which ones I drink!!

Again another differing opinion. First of all I cannot drink any of the Crystal Lights(and other similar powdered "sugar-free" drinks)... I get heart burn SO badly... and that's the ONLY thing on this planet that gives me heart burn.

As far as artifical sugars... there are studies showing they are bad for your health, some causing seizures, some turn into formaldehyde when warmed ( http://www.bio.net/bionet/mm/neur-sci/2004-October/059332.ht ml )

I'm just not wanting to put all that crap in my system... so I use Estevia. It has come along way from that almost bitter taste. I was a sugar taste addict but I don't miss the sugar anymore.

High Fructose corn syrup is also starting to have research results come to light that it is NOT a good form of sweetner in our bodies. Cheap, but not good and it is in SOOOOO many things we injest.

I have turned into a label reader from hell. There are "ingredients" I don't want my body havnig to deal with... nor my family.

Thank you all for your responses. I personally have not had any weight loss stalled because of crystal light, or a craving for sugary or carb loaded foods. But I do think I'll try to cut back my crystal light somewhat and try regular water a little more. I do love my crystal light though as it helps me get in my fluids so much. The only time I drink regular water now is when I exercize and when I sing. I think I'll try to drink more plain water too. Instead of 8 cups of crystal light a day, I'll switch to 6 and fill the rest with plain water. I will however have to buy bottled water because the water where I live is the nastiest tap water I've had in my life! Anyway, thanks again everyone for your responses.

I drink crystal light and water.  I water it  down with about double water to a single serving packet.  If I drink a container of crystal light my next container is water.
