Just curious.

Do you think it's really a problem to skip it if you can make it till lunch with no problem?

My Nut would say no, eat b-fast!  She is really into making sure you get your protein in to start your day off.  But that is just one thought.  I would put something in your tummy, just to keep your metablism up, IMO. :)

Hey TIA,

That's a great question, I've often wondered myself.  I think eatting breakfast is probably important in getting your metabolism working for the day (or so I've been told) and to give you energy for the day!

I don't always eat breakfast - I do try to at least have something to drink, a latte or some juice... ideally I'd have my cottage cheese or greek yogurt every day, but I probably do it about 3-4 times/week.  Sometimes I'm just too tight in the morning to eat!  Not to mention, just not hungry.

I've been successful, at least I believe I have!

Curious to see what others say!

I have always been told that out bodies consider the night as a FAST.  So in the mornings to get our metabolisms geared up for the day we have to eat breakfast to BREAK the FAST from the night.

I am very tight in the am but still can get a protein shake down. How about trying that?
Do you not eat breakfast b/c you are too tight?
For a late am snack I have a yogurt.

I can't eat breakfast..no way, too tight.
However, I do have a protein shake every morning. It gives me a protein boost & has all the other good stuff your body needs in it.

Try that maybe?

Fora lot of us, it isn't a matter of choice! I haven't been able to eat breakfast for the last two years. I jsus have a large skinny latte and eat later. I know from the vets board that this is not uncommon.

It hasn't affected my weight loss adversely!

I can't imagine how I'd get in enough calories or protein if I skipped breakfast. Most of the time I just have a shake for breakfast.

Also, breakfast isn't called the most important meal of the day for no reason... check this article out-

I read the book "Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies".  In it, it explains how you will eat afterwards.

Under lap-band, I believe it said you would eat 2 - 3 times a day, no snacks.  I thought that was a little odd, but if you are not able to get breakfast down, it would explain it.

Of course all the weight loss experts say you need to eat breakfast to lose weight, but I would imagine the rules change when you have weight loss surgery.

With lapband your anatomy is the same and works the same way as pre op. Not sure about other WLS surgeries, but with lapband your body still needs to get some calories in the AM in order to function at its best. Breakfast (whether liquid or solid) is what gets your metabolism going for the day. I posted an article above, the info there applies to us as well as non-WLS people. Again, I'm not sure about RNY or other WLS surgeries and the effect it has on them, but I'm sure it's similar.
